Hey Unok! How would you feel about moving the character gallery up to the top of the page? We've learned through click patterns that that's usually where users go first and thought it'd be better if that was the first thing they saw while on the wiki. Let me know what you think!
Hey! So I am having issues moving the character gallery up like we discussed. I went to the template but, in order to move it, I have to delete the navigation section and I don't want to do that. Do you have any advice on how to do it or can you move the gallery up? I don't want to accidentally break your wiki. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback you could give me. Thanks!
Well we can easily move up the image gallery button from the Appearance section. We can make it bigger, if it looks too small and unnoticeable. I will move it for all characters starting with letter A. If it looks good and/or we adjust some changes to it, we can proceed to the rest of the pages.
I think we're talking about two different things. I should've been more specific. When I said "character gallery," I was referring to the gallery on the main page. Not the image gallery button. I'm sorry if that was confusing. I'm sure that's something you'd have to ask the community about again -- which is totally fine.
Oh, you were talking about the characters portal on the main page. I see, I understand now what you meant by "delete the navigation section".
But in that case, I'm personally not fully supporting that idea. If we talk about top of the top, it's certain no. We can move the Shonen Magazine template to bottom (where is usually should be as a footer thing) and that will bring up the Characters a bit up. Otherwise the other solution is to switch pig buttons navigation with characters and that creates 3 small issues:
1) pig button navigations goes way too down and kinda becomes pointless to have it (as same links are in the navigation too)
2) moving characters above "welcome", puts "welcome" too much down; switching pig buttons with characters will pull down "welcome" only a tiny bit, but activates point 1
3) the main image will look kinda lonely (isolated) and strange if the buttons are not under it.
http://www.imagebam.com/image/270b2f911114514 - while honestly it doesn't look bad, I kinda prefer the current order more. I will discuss this with other admins to see if they like the new order. Will write back when we decide.
I understand your doubts and the issues this might cause. I'm just trying to help users locate the information they're looking for faster. Out of curiosity, did you think about deleting the main image and putting the gallery there? Just a suggestion. But yes get back to me when you can. Thanks!
Yeah, I'm totally understanding the reason for the suggestion, if that's the usually most clicked place, it's reasonable to try to feature it more.
Deleting the main image: I considered putting the Characters above all (like I said "top of the top") and that would be a no. It will really look weird in my opinion. Every official japanese website, even video games starts with a key visual, not with characters or character select screen, so putting that to be the first thing you see, will be really weird for me, for any site. I haven't considered removing the main image, because for the same reason. The manga also have great artwork and we really want to showcase that fantastic art and to be a thing on the wiki. The main image is actually not 1 image, they are multiple images that changes.
We have discussed it and for now we prefer visually the current positions. We also looked at other big anime/manga wikis and generally they also have the same layout: mainimage+navigation or slider, followed by welcome, followed by characters. In our case the first 2 sections are bigger and that kinda pulls Characters a bit more down than most of the wikis we saw. But being like that for years and other wikis having generally similar layout, would make majority of the users familiar with what they can find and where to find it. The issue may be with newer users, but if they eventually expand to other wikis, getting them used to the layout, will help them when they go to other wikis and feel more familiar there.
Thanks for the suggestion, we will definitely consider it again, if we decide to do drastic changes to the main page. Although as the manga seems its heading for an end (in a year or two maybe), such time may not come.
I'm sorry, I haven't been active on the wikia for quite a while and I haven't seen your message until now. I see you haven't contacted anyone else or no other admins replied here. So, if you are still interested, we can get affiliated.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I became quite inactive around Wikia and end up forgetting about Kami Chigiri. Around the late we spoke I have scanned the 2nd chapter, planned to scanning the 3rd and sharing both, but got busy, then lazy, changed jobs and eventually forgot about it.
Yo, can you do something about people editing the pages randomly. :/ They're putting a bunch of crap in some of the articles. If possible, can I be one of the staff if you still need help, I would be willing to. Also, Can you put a tab where we can see who's all the staff ? and so we can know who are the admins and such. Thank you^^
Hello Admin! We're from Dangan Ronpa wiki would like to affiliate witht his site. If you are interested, please use our wiki logo here. In turn, immediately send your wiki logo to this thread. Thank you and have a good day!
Hi, the current wordmark was made by Roboartitec. Generally wordmarks are created in Photoshop or similar image editing software. You take the logo of the series, remove the background around it (if it had and wasn't rendered before hand). And then add text trying to imitate the logo with similar font and style. Of course, some knowledge is required, so that you can easily reproduce the style. In our case, the original Nanatsu no Taizai logo also feature "The Seven Deadly Sins" in english text, so Robo also added "Wiki" in similar manner. It depends on the logo, sometimes you just add "Wiki" or in other times you may also want to write the english name yourself if it's just jp text.
