Hendrickson「ヘンドリクセン」 is a former Great Holy Knight of Liones alongside his lifelong friend, Dreyfus,[1] after usurping the position from the former Great Holy Knight Zaratras. Experimenting with the Demon Clan's power, Hendrickson founded the New Generation, and even took on the power himself, before being defeated by the Seven Deadly Sins, but not before freeing the Demon Clan from the Coffin of Eternal Darkness.
He is the main antagonist of the Holy Knights Saga, and later returned as a supporting character.
During the events of Four Knights of Apocalypse, Hendrickson had opened a medic workshop within Liones.

Human Form[]
Hendrickson wears a set of full-body armor which is covered by a robe. He has short white light-colored hair and a goatee. During his younger years as a Holy Knight, he had a more well-combed hairstyle and did not possess a goatee.
Demon Forms[]
Blood-Red Form[]
After activating his demon powers, Hendrickson took a form that was identical to his younger self, albeit shirtless, with the same black markings as Meliodas and a black left eye.
Ash-Gray Form[]
After injecting the Gray Demon's blood, he returns to his older appearance but with several demonic features. He now has gray skin on his upper body, and black skin on his lower body. Horns have sprouted out of his head, and a pair of wings from his back. His eyes are now yellow and red, with black veins above and below them.
Personality[]
Hendrickson is a serious man who, like Dreyfus, appears to be willing to capture the king and enslave the citizens to prepare for the Holy War. However, Hendrickson is less honorable than Dreyfus and is willing to lie and manipulate enemies and allies alike. He believes that without a war his order of Holy Knights has no true purpose, so he's willing to revive the Demon Clan in order to provoke the Holy War and give the Holy Knights an enemy to fight. He believes that people were stronger and had more spirit during war time.
Hendrickson appears to be quite levelheaded, as he stayed cool when he sensed Diane's powers and calmly told Helbram to retreat. Hendrickson has no qualms about killing people who get in the way of his plans, even if said person is a king or his lifelong friend. In his younger years, Hendrickson was loyal to his King and the people of Liones. He tended to have a playful side, as seen in his friendly interactions with Dreyfus. According to Dreyfus, Hendrickson's personality completely changed after helping him murder Zaratras. In the past he was very kind, gentle, and somewhat shy (especially towards with women).
After his defeat at the hands of the Seven Deadly Sins and the release of the Ten Commandments, Hendrickson returned somewhat to the personality of his youth, his demonic darkness burned away. He deeply regretted all of his actions and wished to atone by defeating the Ten Commandments and saving Dreyfus as well as the Kingdom of Liones. He even strove to protect innocents and the three misfits, whom he was glad he didn't kill while corrupted by darkness. He attempted to atone by accepting any kind of negative emotion from the people he had hurt willfully, such as Griamore's anger for Dreyfus's death, King's distrust of him, and Deldry's grief for Denzel. He is shown to be quite air-headed and clumsy with childlike innocence, and is easily led or manipulated by the those he likes or trusts. He was eager to trust the Goddess, Ludociel, despite Dreyfus' expressed distrust of him.
History[]
As a child, Hendrickson used to live among the Druids on Istar. He was ordered to look after dead bodies until they became skeletons to ensure the dead stayed dead. He hated this job due to his fear of dead bodies. Hendrickson always wanted to leave the job and this wish was granted in the form of his Acid power. Hendrickson became known as a coward and a cursed child so he ran away from the village. Some time later, Hendrickson joined the Holy Knights of Liones and first met Meliodas, the Dragon's Sin of Wrath, in whom he sensed a massive malevolent power, earning his interest, fear and admiration.
21 years ago[]
Twenty-one years ago, Hendrickson found his friend Dreyfus sleeping outside in broad daylight and playfully scolded him. As they walked around the capital, they discussed the king's Vision of the prophesied Holy War and debated the Holy Knights' reason to exist in a world at peace. At the tavern, Hendrickson noted Meliodas' modesty when the Seven Deadly Sins' captain claimed that Zaratras was invincible.
One day, he and Dreyfus investigated the remains of the kingdom of Danafor. Underground, Hendrickson told his friend about his past at the village of Druids much to Dreyfus amusement. Dreyfus told him that he wanted to be a person that protects people and a role model for his son. This made Hendrickson, but he then sensed the demon Fraudrin who asked Dreyfus for his body, so they can revolt against Zaratras. Dreyfus refused the offer so Fraudrin attempted to steal his body. Due to Dreyfus' unshakable will, the attempt failed. When Fraudrin then stole Hendrickson's body, Dreyfus offered to allow the demon to enter his own body if the demon would leave Hendrickson. Fraudrin stole Dreyfus' body as soon as the offer was made. Once they had returned to Britannia, Fraudrin conspired with Hendrickson to murder Zaratras. Hendrickson poisoned Zaratras and Fraudrin gave the finishing blow. The murder was pinned on the Seven Deadly Sins, and they were chased out into exile. Hendrickson's personality became darker after those events.
Some time later, Hendrickson and his men traveled towards the Fairy King's Forest and discovered the corpse of the Red Demon. They soon realized the powers of the Demon's blood, using it to strengthen Holy Knights and granting them new abilities. Later, at a black market, Hendrickson encountered Helbram's corpse which he bought and revived using his people's forbidden technique, Enslavement of the Dead, forcing him to serve as a henchman in the guise of a Holy Knight of Liones. Some years later, he found the Gray Demon's corpse and studied it. Hendrickson started experimenting on Holy Knights, creating Reactors known as the Old Generation which he viewed as failures due to their instability.
Abilities and Equipment[]
Hendrickson's power is several times greater than an average Holy Knight, as shown when Helbram was able to easily defeat a raging Meliodas after Hendrickson used the ability Link to provide him a mere fraction of his strength. Hendrickson has proven himself capable of holding his own in battle against the likes of Arthur Pendragon and later Meliodas, parrying all their attacks with ease. Hendrickson possesses telepathy as shown when talking with Vivian over a long distance. Hendrickson possesses a black mark similar to Meliodas', though only his right eye becomes dark colored and it somehow restored his youthful appearance after his experiments with drinking demon blood. In this form, Hendrickson's strength seemed tremendous compared to Meliodas', and he was able to destroy the entire castle in a single strike, sending groups of Holy Knights flying. The black mark allows Hendrickson to rapidly heal from grievous wounds and even reattach severed limbs,[2] but some of the damage remains according to Meliodas. After injecting himself with the blood of the Gray Demon, Hendrickson lost his youthful appearance and assumed a hybrid form with features of the Red and Gray Demons, gaining still greater power and a dangerous light-type ability capable of blasting anything away to nothingness, as seen when it grazed Ban's upper body.
Experimentation on the corpse of the Red Demon allowed Hendrickson to decipher pieces of dark magic, giving him the Blood Awaken power over the New Generation. By chanting an ancient incantation ("Memeza nemeza...memenomaza") into a demonic skull-shaped ring,[3] he can force the demon blood within the New Generation Holy Knights to go berserk, transforming them into grotesque monsters, swallowed by their negative emotions.[4]
As a Druid, Hendrickson can sense demonic beings or their powers and use techniques of his own kind including forbidden ones that involve the resurrection of the dead, he can also use some Druid techniques such as Purge, to exorcise and defeat demons. Hendrickson can also channel his power to heal injuries rather easily, although this ability is limited in comparison to that of other individuals like Elizabeth. Though unable to undo the curse that Zeldris placed on Merlin, he proved able to heal Gilthunder from a mortal wound inflicted by Zeldris, though wounding himself in the process.
Abilities[]
- Purge「
浄化 , Pāji; literally meaning "Purify"」: A secret druid technique that erases "abominable" souls, such a vampires and demons. It has also shown to be able to return human turned vampires back into human, albeit still killing them. Hendrickson also used this technique to remove Ludociel from Margaret's body, explaining that Purge was capable of expelling the impurities from muddy waters and return them to being clean and clear.
- Shisha Shieki「
死 者 使 役 ; literally meaning "Enslavement of the Dead"」: A forbidden technique passed among the druids. It gives Hendrickson the power to resurrect the dead, but can only be used twice on the same person. The soul deteriorates with each resurrection, significantly weakening their abilities.[6]
Demonic Form[]
After years of experimentation with the corpse of a Red Demon, as well as drinking the Red Demon's blood, Hendrickson gained both the physical and magical abilities of that demon, becoming able to manifest their mysterious power of darkness. He also gained access to knowledge of various demonic enchantments, including Hellblaze.
After injecting himself with the blood of a Gray Demon, both his natural and demonic powers increased significantly, transforming his body in the process, gaining rapid regenerative abilities, wings for flight, as well as the magical abilities exclusive to the Gray Demon species.
After unsealing the Coffin of Eternal Darkness and releasing the Demon Clan, Hendrickson was affected by the process, which removed his Ash-Grey Demon form as well as all of his other demonic powers and abilities, effectively turning him human once again.

- Hellblaze「
獄炎 , Herubureizu; literally meaning "Hellfire"」: A demonic enchantment that allows Hendrickson to generate black flames.[7] Discovered after meticulous self-experimentation with the blood of the red demon.[8][9]
- Dark Snow「
黒雪 , Dāku Sunou; literally meaning "Black Snow"」: As Hendrickson raises his hands; numerous tiny, black spheres materialize around him.[10] These spheres are scattered outwards and fall towards the ground like snow.[11] Anyone that comes into contact with the spheres will be enveloped by them and instantly killed.[12]- Dead End「
黒死 , Deddo Endo; literally meaning "Black Death"」: Hendrickson raises his hand and materializes the same numerous tiny, black spheres that form Dark Snow.[13] By clenching his hand, the tiny spheres merge into a larger black sphere, causing surrounding plants to wither and die.[14] Hendrickson points his fingers and the sphere is fired in the direction of his opponent. Upon impact, the sphere causes a large explosion.[15] The target's body is then completely enveloped by the sphere, and they are instantly killed.[16]

- Dark Nebula「
暗黒の環 , Dāku Nebyura; literally "Black Ring"」: A dark void expands outwards from Hendrickson, completely destroying anything caught within range.[17] The force of the attack was great enough to devastate the surrounding area and incapacitate any caught within its wake.[18]

Dreyfus[]
Hendrickson and Dreyfus were best friends from back when Hendrickson was pick up by Zaratras as a young child. Dreyfus pushed Hendrickson towards responsibility, and the two grew close over the years as brothers in arms. Though Hendrickson usually appeared as the more calm and collected of the two, it was more often Dreyfus who filled the role of the sensible big brother, as seen with Hendrickson's problems with women and his fanaticism with the Goddess. Dreyfus does get exasperated with Hendrickson's oddity from time to time.
After conspiring together to kill Zaratras and Hendrickson's subsequent change in personality, their friendship seems to have drifted apart, although it appears that he still deeply cares for Dreyfus as a friend. He cried when Dreyfus appeared when the Demon Clan were about to be unsealed. He later vowed to free Dreyfus from the demon's influence no matter the costs.
Zaratras[]
The two met and bonded together with Dreyfus, who took on the most responsible of looking after Hendrickson. The three friends were close and trusting enough that when Hendrickson planned to poison Zaratras, he immediately knew exactly which food to use that he would definitely eat.
While Hendrickson regrets his actions, Zaratras doesn't hold a grudge against the two men and finds forgiveness for them, much to their relief when he returns to the afterlife.
