Seven Deadly Sins

Introduction arc

Meliodas ready to fight Twigo

Meliodas declaring his title

Meliodas is first seen in the Boar Hat, serving his disgusting meals, and then ordering Hawk, a talking pig, to clean up the vomit of his customers. Moments later, the infamous Rust Knight enters the bar, scaring all the customers who believed him to be one of the "Seven Deadly Sins", and collapses moments later, which reveals him to be a female. The woman soon wakes up, is offered food and questioned as to what she was doing in an armor. As she begins explaining that she is searching for the "Seven Deadly Sins", a few knights, having been informed by the villagers of the Rust Knight, demand that Meliodas and him come out. The young man and Hawk do so quickly, and anger one of the knights by the latter's pretending to be the Holy Knight. As the woman when flees into the woods, they notice her and chase her. She is quickly rescued by Hawk and Meliodas, who ask for her to continue her answer. She then explains that she was searching for the "Seven Deadly Sins" in order to stop the Holy Knights, who, a few days ago, had orchestrated a coup d'etat, and had taken control of the kingdom; she also reveals who the Seven Deadly Sins are.[1]

Abruptly, the cliff the three are standing on is cut off by Twigo. Meliodas, however, rescues all of them. After he does so, Twigo notices the woman's earring, and then realizes her true identity as Elizabeth, the kingdom's third princess. When the knight attacks them, Meliodas rescues her; he does so again when she gives up her life in an attempt to not involve Meliodas in her matters. Smiling, Meliodas reveals his name, and thus, his identity. As Twigo attacks them again, Meliodas repels the attack, and, declaring his title as the "Sin of Wrath", then again repels Twigo's attack with his broken sword, thus defeating him. Meliodas, explaining that he is also searching for the other Deadly Sins, offers Elizabeth to accompany him on his journey, an offer she tearfully accepts.[2]

Meliodas removing the holy knight`s sword

Hired as a waitress of the Boar Hat, Elizabeth is given a new set of clothes by Meliodas. She then questions him as to the crime he had committed and doubts whether he is an actual criminal. He initially jokes about the reason, but, in the end, he does not properly answer her.[3] Meliodas, Elizabeth, and Hawk soon reach Bernia, a village famous for its ale made from the village's famous river; they, however, they find the river to be completely dried. Upon finding a large crowd of men trying to pull out a sword, the three discover that the previous day, a Holy Knight had sealed the river's underground water supply, preventing the creation of Bernia ale, the town's primary sources of income. While the men unsuccessfully try to pull out the sword, a boy named Mead starts boasting about his friend from the Seven Deadly Sins, his comments only served to further enrage the villagers, who begin blaming Mead for their crisis.[4]

Meliodas takes Mead to Boar Hat and feeds him in return for information on his "friend" from the Seven Deadly Sins. This, however, turns out to be a hoax. Elizabeth, having learned that Mead was the one who angered the Holy Knight, manages to have him tell her the reason he did so, by narrating him an episode of her childhood. The four then watch from the window as two knights inform the villagers that if the sword is not removed by that day, taxes will be multiplied by ten times. As all the men, now including Mead, try their best to remove the sword, Meliodas, after drinking some Bernia ale, removes the sword with ease, in order to pay for his drink, which causes the dammed water to gush up like a fountain.[5]

Sometime later, Meliodas asks Hawk and Elizabeth to buy some herbs and fruits with the silver coins he hands them, for Elizabeth to gain some experience, since she, being a princess, has never seen a silver coin before, having used only gold ones. He also informs them that the day's main dish will be the Dusk Bison that has been acting as a pest and destroying people's farms. When the two return empty-handed, and explain how they lost the items they bought, Meliodas hilariously expresses his irritation.[6]

That evening, as the villagers celebrate in Boar Hat, Meliodas instructs Elizabeth to take her job lightly, since it was her first time being a waitress.[7] During the celebration, Meliodas senses Gilthunder, the aforementioned Holy Knight's, spear heading for the village, and goes out. Outside, he finds Elizabeth, who, having made many mistakes while waitressing, had run outside while crying. Encouraging Elizabeth, Meliodas stops the spear, but only after being pushed back a large distance. He then sends it back at Gilthunder, which leads to the destruction of Fort Solgales, and the Holy Knight's realization that the Seven Deadly Sins are still alive. The next morning, Meliodas suggests that they should leave the village immediately and continue their journey, since it would be more dangerous for the villagers if they stay there.[8]

Forest of White Dreams arc

The group meeting Diane

Meliodas and Elizabeth are led to a sleeping Diane

Having learned of even Holy Knights avoiding the Forest of White Dreams in Bernia, the group of three travel there, speculating that there might be a Deadly Sin hiding inside. After walking in the forest for more than three hours, and losing their sense of direction, the three find multiple copies of Hawk, all claiming to be the real one. Meliodas, mercilessly defeats all the copies, including the real one, but then discovers similar copies of Elizabeth. Each of them declares to do anything that they are real, and Meliodas then instructs them to jump as high as they could. All of them, except the real one, do so, since Elizabeth's panties had been stolen by Meliodas before, and she was embarrassed to jump. Defeated, the copies show themselves as Prankster Imps, and retreat towards a giant girl, who is revealed to be Diane, the Serpent's Sin of Envy. They then apologize to her for allowing a Holy Knight to come through, having believed Meliodas to be one.[9]

Immediately after being woken, Diane lifts Meliodas with her hand, only to cuddle him and cry tears of joy as soon as she realizes his identity. When Elizabeth introduces herself to Diane as traveling with Meliodas, Diane jumps to the conclusion that she and Meliodas are a couple, and throws a tantrum. Meliodas, after calming her down, explains to her the reason he and Elizabeth were traveling together. He then proceeds to begin a discussion about the day, ten years ago, informing her that he has almost no memories of the day, much to Diane surprise. Meliodas narrates the only memories he has, which end with one of the Deadly Sins apologizing to him. The narration leads Elizabeth to speculate the existence of a traitor, and Diane, to declare that she will help Meliodas. Few brief moments later, Hawk notices a gigantic thundercloud in the sky. A lightning bolt from it then binds all of them and the assailant is shown to be Gilthunder.[10]

Meliodas collapsing from his wound2

As Gilthunder walks towards them, Elizabeth explains Gilthunder's identity, and that he was a brother figure to her, but soon realizes his intentions. After Gilthunder leads her away, ending her interruption, he, pointing his sword at Meliodas' neck, expresses his desire to avenge his father, and also to prove that he has surpassed him. Meliodas and Diane easily break Gilthunder's immobilization spell themselves, with Meliodas instructing Diane not to interfere. Gilthunder attacks first with a lightning bolt; the Sin of Wrath repels the spell, only for the Holy Knight to dodge and move behind the latter, slashing him from behind and causing him to fall to the ground. Meliodas, seemingly in his last moments, asks for the whereabouts of the other Deadly Sins as his last words. Gilthunder answers to him the locations of Fox's Sin of Greed Ban and the Grizzly's Sin of Sloth King, the former being imprisoned in the Baste Dungeon, and the latter having perished in the Capital of the Dead. As he is told so, Meliodas quickly jumps back up, revealing that he had tricked Gilthunder into revealing the information.[11]

The Holy Knight refuses to stop their battle and repeatedly attacks Meliodas very quickly. He continues his attacks but is suddenly lifted by Diane with a hand. Gilthunder's attempts at escaping her grasp unsuccessful, Meliodas watches as Diane flings him out of the forest.[12] Meliodas later decides to head toward the Baste Dungeon, leading Elizabeth to object his decision, citing his grave wound as an impediment. Though assuring her that he is alright, Meliodas soon collapses.[13]

Baste Dungeon arc

Meliodas showing his hidden wrath

Meliodas with demonic eyes and the demon symbol on his face.

Meliodas is taken to Dalmary, a town near the Baste Dungeon, where he is treated by Dana.[14] Later, Dana has Meliodas drink some medicine he prepared himself[15], which is later revealed to have been a deadly poison, with Dana being revealed to have made a deal with Golgius. When the Holy Knight appears, and then tries to grab Meliodas' broken sword. Meliodas, however, is shown to still be alive, but with his eyes being mysteriously colored black, and with a strange black colored symbol on his forehead. As Golgius tries to pull the sword, Meliodas declares that he would not let go of it even if he dies and that this was the only way he could atone for his sins[16], while releasing an aura which frightens Golgius into fleeing.[17]

Meliodas seems to have returned to normalcy soon after this. When Elizabeth then questions him as to his wound, it is revealed to have already healed, something that puzzles even him. The three then go in Golgius' chase, soon finding him due to Hawk's sense of smell. Much to their surprise, Golgius immediately surrenders; Meliodas, however, notices the blades that Golgius discreetly threw, and blocks them. Soon after, Dana also finds Golgius and is killed in order to censor the two's deal, with Elizabeth, worried, running towards the doctor. As Golgius disappears after his attack is blocked by Meliodas, he confirms that his ability is teleportation. The three then escape, and soon enter an abandoned building, where Meliodas slashes his sword in the air toward the door, comically claiming that it was a magic spell. They wait inside when Golgius suddenly appears behind Meliodas, but falls for the Sin's trap - a cut on the floor of the entrance - and falls down to the bottom of the building. There, the Deadly Sin reveals that Golgius' ability is actually transparency, and how he discovered so. He then attacks his opponent at point-blank range.[18]

Meliodas declaring he will fulfill his promise

Meliodas declaring that he will fulfill his promise even if Elizabeth dies

Meliodas then questions Golgius about the person who had ordered him to bring the broken sword and Elizabeth, only for Golgius to escape due to a distraction. After he leaves, Elizabeth goes towards the dying Dana, who apologizes, explaining that he had only wanted to rescue his daughter and, lamenting his inability, dies. Elizabeth blames herself for this since if she had not found Meliodas, he would not have been put in danger, and Dana would not have died. Meliodas, in response, questions, whether her resolve to protect the kingdom's citizens, was as weak, declaring that he would fulfill his promise even if she were to die. He proceeds to inform her of the inheritance of the principles of an individual. Not long after, Meliodas and Hawk head for Baste, leaving Elizabeth in Dalmary due to the dangers. She, however, joins the two herself and, encouraged by Meliodas' speech, responds that though she has no power, she will continue to fight for the people even if he were to die. As they walk, they encounter Diane, who seems to have no memories of defeating Friesia's insects and leaving for Baste.[19]

Diane tries to recollect the events, and Meliodas then determines to rescue as Sennett was their main priority. Suddenly, he finds Diane to be attacking him; immediately realizing that she is under an illusion, he flees along with Elizabeth and Hawk, and, upon finding two civilians, walking nearby, takes them along. As the three, and the two frightened civilians, hide, Meliodas also falls under Ruin's hypnosis when he tries to look at Diane, which makes him see Ruin in her place the same way she sees Ruin in his. Thinking he is attacking Ruin, he attacks Diane, which begins their battle.[20] The battle is only stopped after Elizabeth manages to remove the origin of Ruin's illusion - the bell on his staff. He, enraged by this, charges towards the heavily injured Elizabeth, but is stopped by Meliodas, the illusion now having stopped.[21]

Meliodas stopping Ruin from hitting Elizabeth

Meliodas protecting Elizabeth from Ruin

Meliodas tells the unconscious Elizabeth that he accepts her resolution, as Ruin attacks him. Ruin expresses his disbelief at the kingdom being frightened of a "small child". After two of Meliodas' punches, Ruin, exclaims that his soft fist would not even scratch his armor, and suggests that he draw his sword. When Meliodas does not, Ruin attacks with a barrage of punches; though they possess great power, Meliodas remains unscathed and breaks Ruin's armor. He is unfazed when Ruin then hardens his abdominal muscles as his armor and proceeds to easily defeat him with a punch that plunges his arm into the Holy Knight's stomach.[22] Later, when Diane, Meliodas, Hawk, and Elizabeth, who is sleeping inside Diane's bag, enter the dungeon, they encounter Sennett fleeing from Ban, as he appears soon behind her. Initially appearing very tense despite their reunion after 10 years, Ban and Meliodas are shown to get along very well, and greet each other with multiple high-fives at great speed. They then energetically start arm wrestling, the mere force of which begins destroying Baste. Both argue on their score on arm wrestling as the dungeon continues collapses. After it is fully destroyed, Ban states that he is glad to meet Meliodas again.[23]

The group, Ban, and the people who were imprisoned in Baste, including Sennett, return to Dalmary. Soon after, Meliodas enters Dana's house but is surprised to discover that Dana is mysteriously alive. The doctor reveals that he knows nothing about this strange phenomenon, and showing the deep wound to have neatly healed, points out that it was similar to Meliodas' sword wound, which had also healed and left a scar in a similar way. Sennett then interrupts, questioning the reason her father was nearly killed and she, imprisoned. When he answers, she tells him that poisoning Meliodas was not his fault, but the Deadly Sins' own fault, since the group were criminals. Dana, however, argues against, explaining that Meliodas never blamed him, and even selflessly rescued her. He then offers a token of his gratitude by a meal. At night, during the party, Ban is formally introduced to the bedridden Elizabeth. Not long after, Sennett notices crossing shooting starts in the sky and brings them to everyone's attention.[24]

Capital of the Dead arc

The characters begin their journey towards the Capital of the Dead from Dalmary Town. Meliodas decides to not head towards the Kingdom's capital yet, but instead, they move further away. On the road, they are confronted by two Holy Knight apprentices, with one known as Andre. Meliodas initially deceives them by advertising their Boar Hat bar with Diane and Elizabeth being the two attractive waitresses. However, after Diane released her appreciations of being praised by hugging him, the knights realize that they are the Seven Deadly Sins. Suddenly, a Black Hound appears and quickly defeats the two knights. When Ban attempts to scare the creature, it grew bigger as a result of feeling threatened. In the end, Meliodas intimidates the Black Hound with his Broken Blade's powers.

Gradually, the characters arrive at a lonely village that is said to be closet to the Capital of the Dead. Meliodas decides to open the Boar Hat bar in order to earn some money for food and begin giving everyone roles. When Ban begins complaining about working, he reveals that he return Sennett her dagger, so they could not sell it for money. When everyone was about to begin working, they discover that Ban had escaped. At the Boar Hat, Meliodas tells a past story about Ban and King and states that they are an unlikely dynamic duo.

Meliodas and the rest begin searching for Ban and discover his fighting against King. He suddenly appears and interrupts the battle by knocking Ban on the head with a cup. Meliodas and Diane then easily notice King, although he quickly runs away. Back at the Boar Hat, Ban cooks a delicious meal and requests for the location of the Capital of the Dead from Ellen and her brother Luigi, who reveals that King has also requested the same thing.

The discussion about the Capital of the Dead continues and the characters are told that the village is actually the entrance. However, you cannot go there just because you desire to. Out of the blue, Ellen recites a riddle she always heard from her neighbor, a priceless memory shared with the deceased will open the path to the capital. The characters then begin searching for a method to enter the Capital of the Dead. Realizing that there are flowers on the ground, Hawk begins sniffing them when a sudden breeze wafted all of the petals. When the characters open their eyes, they discover that they arrived at the Capital of the Dead.

Ban suddenly runs away, leading Meliodas and the rest to follow after him. Whilst attempting to follow, they is blown away by an explosive strike from Guila but easily recovers. He then suddenly encounter the Holy Knight Guila who killed herself to enter the Capital of the Dead. She begins attacking when Meliodas immediately tells Hawk to run away with Elizabeth after realizing how dangerous she was. Meliodas catches Diane who has also blown away the same way. The two then begins attacking the Holy Knight together, before Guila provokes Meliodas to use his sword. In response, Meliodas draws his broken blade and utilizes Full Counter against Guila, who reveals that she knows the ability.

Meliodas and Diane were still fighting Guila, but she was too strong and Guila was about to use the power that she called Explosion, but she was stopped by Ban using his power, Snatch, but Guila used her Explosion to stop Ban ability. As the battle continues, the Sins were losing but then King arrives and offers to help them. Guila used her power once again to kill the Sins but King blocks that attack and decided to fight her alone which the other Sins agree to and sit down and watch the fight.

Meliodas and the other watch as King defeated Guila with ease, but then she came out of the rubble and was about to attack King but Meliodas blocks the attack and sent her back to the living world. The Sins bodies were starting to disappearing and are about to go back to the living world. When they are back, they saw that Guila was there, but still in a near death state and had not returned yet. Ban said that they should kill her but Meliodas had an idea to do something to her. The Sins later left the village to continue their journey. King asks Meliodas who Elizabeth is but as always, he teased her, but then told him she is the princess which surprised King and decided to go to his fat form to show respect to Elizabeth but Meliodas does not notice the differences but the clothes. When King asks what happen to his Sacred Treasure, which Meliodas says that he sold it.

Not long after, Meliodas questions King the current status of the kingdom. Later, at night, inside the Boar Hat, Elizabeth somberly remembers her childhood; her spirits are lifted when Meliodas reassuring her that her family will be rescued soon. The next day, he decides their next destination be Byron, and then questions King about his statements the previous day. King, in response, reveals Guila was a mere low-rank apprentice the day before she fought them, explains the mysterious "New Generation". Meliodas, and three others, then enter Byron, where they also discover a new wanted poster for Elizabeth. All the residents unsuccessfully try to chase the criminals in order to hand them to the Holy Knights. After the four escape to a tower, Meliodas and King leave Elizabeth and Hawk to gather information, upon the princess' own urging.[25]

In the evening, Hawk tearfully explains to Meliodas and King about Elizabeth's capture by Griamore and Veronica. Though King suggests to formulate a plan, Meliodas, enraged, states that they are going then.[26] King, upon finding the inn where Elizabeth is being held, uses his telekinetic abilities to topple a cup on the table. While Griamore reaches out for it, creating a distraction, Meliodas enters the room, and very quickly defeats Griamore in an ambush. Later, Elizabeth thanks Meliodas, and, as the two walk, Meliodas' shadow is shown as the silhouette of a giant monster.[27] The next day, near the town of Vaizel, Meliodas explains about the town hosting an annual flea market, and about his speculations of a sacred treasure being sold there. Meliodas, Ban, King and Hawk head to the town, and there, are directed, by an alcoholic, elderly man, to the Fight Festival, whose rewards include Gideon, Diane's sacred treasure. Sometime later, after a brief skirmish with Taizoo, Meliodas, Ban, and the unwitting King, along with the other contestants, gather at the fighting ring for the preliminary round.[28]

During the preliminary, Meliodas is among the handful of combatants who overwhelm the rest and later qualify for the main tournaments. Afterward, Meliodas is assigned to battle Ban in the first round. Ban had entered himself, Meliodas and King as "Baan", "Meliodafu", and "Old Fart", respectively. Howzer almost recognizes the two but dismisses them as the Deadly Sins because of their obvious aliases, due to his naivety. When the first battle between Matrona and Griamore begins, Meliodas, along with others, ponders whether the former is Elizabeth when she reveals her similar appearance to the princess.[29][30] After Matrona wins, her hat falls down, revealing her facial similarities to Diane's. She skips toward the three Sins but is only greeted with Meliodas' question as to her identity, which angers her and prompts her to punch him and storm off.[31] She then answers to King's questions, explaining how she and Elizabeth were shrunk.[32]

Diane merrily states that she had wanted to surprise Meliodas, and jumps on him, expressing her elation at being held by him. She then asks Meliodas to grope her, as to how he often gropes Elizabeth. When she becomes upset at his refusals, Meliodas comforts her, explaining that he cannot act so to an important individual as her.[33] After King and Cain's battle, Meliodas and Ban ready themselves for their battle, which is the final one in the First Round.[34] As the battle begins, Meliodas compares the circumstances they are in currently to his and Ban's first meeting, and punches him. Regaining his balance, Ban exchanges several attacks with his opponent. One of Meliodas' punches sends Ban crashing into the ring, even breaking the Great Vaizel Rock. Soon, when Meliodas attacks Ban again, he himself falls down to his knees, Ban having used his ability, "Snatch".[35]

When Meliodas tries to retaliate, he seems to have weakened. King explains that this is since Snatch enables Ban to "rob" physical objects and also physical abilities such as speed and stamina; Meliodas is losing his stamina. As Ban overwhelms Meliodas, he then also starts "robbing" Meliodas' raw strength. After sometime, Ban decides to now rob all of Meliodas' abilities together, as otherwise, he would not be able to end the battle. While Meliodas attacks Ban, the latter steals the former's abilities, and manages to completely do so before he is defeated.[36] As he stands over Meliodas, Ban allows him to give up, an offer Meliodas immediately refuses. Diane theorizes that Meliodas is baiting Ban into delivering the punch, and will reflect the blow back with Full Counter. King quickly refutes this, explaining that Full Counter can only reflect "power" attacks, and not indirect attacks like Ban's.[37]

Meliodas playing with tiny Elizabeth

Meliodas toying with tiny Elizabeth

Despite Elizabeth's pleading, Ban punches Meliodas. In the midst of the resulting debris, Meliodas, who now mysteriously has a strange black colored mark on his forehead, and with his eyes colored black, similar to how he was when Golgius had attacked him previously, crushes Ban's hand, and proceeds to defeat him. After Diane's battle against Howzer is announced, Diane hurriedly hands Meliodas a shrunken Elizabeth, before leaving for the battle; the Sin of Wrath smirks perversely at the sight of a shrunken and naked Elizabeth.[38] While Diane enters the fighting ring, Meliodas teases Elizabeth. The princess then tries to question Meliodas as to why he acts perversely towards her, believing that this is since he does not consider her to be important; this is why she has been dejected for a while. He, however, does not hear her response, leading her to dismiss it, and mentally resolved to believe in him. She then proceeds to then have him promise her that he will not battle recklessly, as he did with Ban; Meliodas, however, mentally adds that he will only do so when she is nearby, hilariously.[39]

After Diane's battle, Cain and Meliodas enter the ring for their battle. After a brief conversation on whether Cain entering the Fight Festival was a coincidence, Cain, questions him whether he is Meliodas' son, and is greatly surprised upon learning that his opponent is Meliodas himself. Initially disbelieving, Cain, after accepting the fact, attacks Meliodas, and jumps back, declaring that he cannot forgive Meliodas, who betrayed the kingdom, its people, and his most important person. Meliodas then recognizes the symbol on Cain's shirt as Danafor's crest.[40] Questioning Meliodas as to why he destroyed the kingdom, and killed its citizens and Liz, Cain attacks him with a fireball; Meliodas does not evade them. Cain, finally ending his attacks, releases a giant fireball. Meliodas, answering the series of questions, states that he had tried to protect Danafor, but failed and that this failure is his sin. Facing his palm towards the attack, Meliodas completely disperses the attack. Cain recognizes this technique as "Counter Vanish", the use of which has convinced Cain of Meliodas' identity.[41]

Meliodas replies that he has come to remember Cain as well, and reaffirms Cain of his earlier statement. Cain delighted that the rumors about Meliodas' responsibility for the destruction of Danafor are false and glad to be rid of suspicions, forfeits his match. Finally, for the final battle in the tournament between Meliodas and Diane, or Matrona, both fighters enter the ring. Diane suggests to end their battle soon since they have already won their target: Gideon. However, they are then interrupted by three women, who cheer Meliodas in a very erotic manner. Diane, enraged at Meliodas' obliviousness on this, punches him as their battle begins; Ban had paid the three women to cheer erotically for Meliodas to anger Diane and have her battle Meliodas seriously.[42] Meliodas realizes Ban's scheme and exchanges a barrage of powerful attacks when Diane when she refuses to believe that she has misunderstood, with one of the attacks nearly pushing him out of the ring. Regaining his balance, Meliodas then jumps, and tries to attack from above.[43]

Diane, however, stops the punch and sending him flying, all the while slowly returning to her usual size.[44] As Diane grows, Meliodas escapes all of Diane's repeated punches by slipping through the cracks their battle has created on the ring. As they battle, the audience expresses its disapproval and dislike at the low seriousness of the battle. In response, Meliodas stops fighting, and declares his identity as a Deadly Sin, and also that the Sins will be capturing Vaizel. After King and Ban also enter the ring, Meliodas continues, threatening the civilians to leave Vaizel in one minute, lest I massacred.[45] A few moments afterwards, gigantic, and explosive flares rain down on Vaizel. As the assailants, Guila, Jericho, and another Holy Knight, land, the citizens are intimidated by Ban into fleeing, which makes Elizabeth realize the motive of the Sins' actions: they had forced the civilians to leave, so that they would not be involved in the battle against the Holy Knights. Meliodas, noting on the Holy Knights' strength, instructs King, Diane and Ban to separate.[46]

Soon afterward, Guila finds Meliodas. He accepts to fight her, but she retorts, boasting her increased abilities, and then releases several flares, which stop midway. When he jumps to destroy the flares, one of them suddenly explodes, which triggers multiple explosions. After the gigantic inferno settles, Meliodas, heavily injured, falls from a height.[47] After Jericho also defeats Ban, King confronts the two Holy Knights, and defeats them with great ease[48]; he then hands Elizabeth and Hawk the responsibility of watching over the two defeated Sins.[49] Hiding behind a building, Elizabeth hangs the pendant that Veronica gave her earlier around the unconscious Meliodas' neck, as Veronica and Griamore find her and Hawk. Veronica notices the pendant on Meliodas' neck, and then grabs Elizabeth's hand, trying to bring Elizabeth back to the capital of Liones. As Elizabeth tries to resist, Meliodas regains consciousness and stops Veronica, trying to convince her that he will protect Elizabeth.[50]

Angered further, Veronica triggers the Goddess Amber, the stone on her pendant that affects demonic beings. The stone shines brightly for a moment, and Meliodas then disappears.[51] Annoyed at Elizabeth still refusing to return with her, Veronica finally orders Griamore to use force.[52] Ban's attempts at opposing them are stopped by Jericho and Guila's arrival. While Veronica and Griamore are focused on Guila, Elizabeth manages to flee, with Veronica chasing behind; the princesses' footsteps trigger one of the explosive mines Guila had set previously, leading to Veronica's death.[53] Guila then reveals Hendrickson's goal: the resurrection of the Demon Clan, and tries to bring Elizabeth back with her. As the princess pleads for Meliodas to rescue her, the Goddess Amber darkens, and shatters, releasing a black substance, which collects and forms Meliodas, the right portion of whose body is completely colored black from forehead to knee, with spiral-like designs. Noticing Guila holding his broken sword, Meliodas sewers, and grabs Guila's hand before she is able to notice; he holds her hand, which is, in turn, holding his sword.[54]

As Guila screams in pain, Meliodas returns her amputated hand and lightly swings his sword to deliver a blow which knocks both Guila and Jericho away. Jericho immediately proceeds to utilize an Incantation Orb to heal Guila, when Meliodas continues to proceed attacking them. Losing conscious, he ends up slicing Ban in half as well as completely destroying the nearby terrain. He notices a worried Elizabeth and begins inspecting her through smell, causing her to gradually become confused. Acknowledging that she is not an enemy, Meliodas manipulates that black substance around his body to form a wing around his right arm, then heading off towards where King and Helbram was located. He interrupts the battle, knocking King away as he lands, and subsequently begins attacking Helbram. Preventing the Holy Knight commenting, Meliodas begins executing a succession of attacks, appearing to have gained the upper hand, when Helbram returns with a heavy blow. Helbram takes the opportunity and questions whether Meliodas was mixed from the start, as he appears to be fundamentally different from Guila and Jericho.

Appearing to be unable to comprehend what Helbram is asking, Meliodas continues the battle by manipulating the black substance again, but forming a gigantic blade instead, to send a series of slashes with aggressive killing intent. The Holy Knight deflects the strikes with ease, quickly moving behind Meliodas and attacking, thinking that his blow had accidentally split the Deadly Sin into two. Meliodas protects himself with the black substance acting as an armor and negating all the damage. He forms a wing again, attempting to reduce the distance between him and Helbram, when the latter uses the ability Hunter Wisp to create homing blast attacks, realizing that Meliodas has lost his Full Counter ability after they hit. Cornered, he molds two claws with the black substance and continues his attacks, only to be stopped Helbram who reveals his ability Link and stabs Meliodas with his sword.

Despite being told that Helbram possesses the powers of 20 more Holy Knights, Meliodas adjusts his posture and launches towards him, delivering consecutive bashes with the large claws. The 20 Holy Knights supporting Helbram via the ability Link are astonished that he has been overpowered, realizing that Meliodas' powers may still be increasing. Suddenly, Hendrickson appears before the gathering of the knights, lending Helbram a fraction of his powers, who consequently sends the rampaging Meliodas crashing into a wall with a single blow.

While knocked out, Meliodas was then saved by Diane with her sacred treasure Gideon and end up defeating Helbram, but as well destroyed Vaizel. When Meliodas woke up, Diane cuddles him in happiness. Later, Elizabeth ran happily to the saved Meliodas, but Meliodas was then punched by Ban due to being cut in half by Meliodas. Elizabeth then walks to the wounded Meliodas and hugged him for being alright, Meliodas was happy and told Elizabeth that she needs some underwear while grabbing her butt, leaving Elizabeth embarrassed and an upset Diane. Meliodas was then told by Ban of his sword fate which surprised Elizabeth and King of the missing sword, but Meliodas stated it was stolen and acting carefree which surprised Hawk. Elizabeth told Meliodas that sword was something important to him and said if it was really fine, to which Meliodas stated it is not fine, and it is a dire situation which surprised Elizabeth, but then Meliodas stated that if Elizabeth is alright, then losing the sword was not a big deal which made Elizabeth blush heavy and made Diane upset for not worrying over her instead to which Meliodas state that she is always fine.

Meliodas and the rest, treating each other wounds and headed to the next location to find another Deadly Sins member or the sacred treasure.

Later, the trio continued to cut through the Holy Knights as they attempted to break through. Deciding to end this with minimal bloodshed, Gowther used his Sacred Treasure Herritt to overwrite the memories of the attacking Holy Knights and turned them into allies. Gowther explained his technique to the bewildered Meliodas and Ban who then told him not to use that on them no matter what which Gowther complied. The trio sneaks away from the Holy Knights and went into hiding to find out a plan. As Dreyfus was under Gowther's Nightmare Teller, a past version of Meliodas appeared having a meal after training with his fellow Sins. He comments on his superior's skills and called Zaratras invincible only for the younger version of Hendrickson to claim that Meliodas is being modest. He then compliments Dreyfus' sword skill and tells him that he lacks the skill and ambition to surpass his brother while munching on a handful of mini-Hawks. Meliodas disappears after telling Dreyfus that it is already too late and asked the skewered corpse of Zaratras if he is right, thus beginning the nightmare on the Great Holy Knight. Meliodas and Ban stopped at their track when they saw giant roots attacking a small town where Diane, Gowther, and King are located. Ban asks Meliodas if he could sense it, which Meliodas nodded as he mentions that Diane's and Gowther's powers are fading, but King's ability is raised to invincible level.

As Meliodas stepped forward and faced Hendrickson, he asked him about the location of Elizabeth, but Hendrickson refused to tell him. Meliodas immediately tried to kick him in the face, but Hendrickson was able to block. Meliodas followed with quick slash attacks, but his opponent was able to dodge them with ease. Hendrickson then tried an attack, which Meliodas blocked, but was sent back. Moments later, Gilthunder came down from a thundercloud attacking Meliodas, who was able to parry his attack. Both exchanged multiple attacks, and both blocking each one of them, but eventually, Gilthunder was able to kick Meliodas in the chest and send him back, where he was caught by Arthur. Hendrickson points out that Meliodas came rushing into the enemy stronghold with a few members of his teams and without any plan. Hendrickson points out that the Deadly Sins were nothing, but a former shadow of themselves and that saving Elizabeth is futile. Meliodas however, rush in with great speed and attack both Hendrickson and Gilthunder at the same time and said that even if he gives up on his life, he will protect Elizabeth. Gilthunder claims that he is stronger than any Deadly Sins, but Meliodas just nodded and continued their fight with full speed. Later on, Meliodas started to overpower Gilthunder, while the latter tries to fight back with all his strength, but with no luck. Meliodas explain that Gilthunder would never compromise his sense of justice if his life was in the line, and realize that Margaret was in danger the whole time. Margaret started to cry and thanks Meliodas for saving them. The Masked Holy Knight ask what made him realize the event, which Meliodas explain that the creed and the way Gilthunder said he was stronger than the Deadly Sins was some kind of code or charm if he was ever in trouble which Meliodas give him ten years ago, and when Gilthunder said those word back in the White Dream, he knew he was being watched and someone being taken, hostage.

The Masked Holy Knight finds it an absurd lie, as Meliodas was fighting against Gilthunder with all of his strength, but Meliodas points out that Gilthunder put his life on the line for the woman he loves, and as such, he put his life on the line too, as he believes that it is how friendships work. Gilthunder proceeds on defeating Hendrickson, and afterward he, Margaret and Meliodas meet up with the other Deadly Sins. Upon seeing Meliodas, Diane holds him and frets over him. Meliodas ignores Diane's fretting and tells everyone their priority is to save Elizabeth.

Everyone was surprised and shock at Arthur offer, but Meliodas accept Arthur offers to Elizabeth dismay as Meliodas believed that since the kingdom is saved, Elizabeth is freed, and Dawn Roar will take over the Deadly Sins job, they would be no need of him in Liones. Arthur was joyed to Meliodas acceptance, but Meliodas told him not yet as he needs to be in the kingdom to restore it, and he still has the Boar Hat to run. Meliodas then asks Merlin if she will rejoin the Deadly Sins who said not right away and teleport along with the sick Bartra and the depressed Arthur. King then ask Meliodas if he should have questioned her action in the past which Meliodas blame King for. During the battle, Meliodas fought Ban, but was not at his full power due to the Acid effect and used Demon power to reattach his arm. Meliodas then told Ban that Elizabeth thinks nothing of sacrificing herself and for their promise to save Liones, knowing that, he can not die right. Meliodas told Ban that despite what he is doing, Ban will be his friend, no matter what, but like him, he got things that he can not give up on. Hawk then count front Ban, saying if he will really what the horn would say and that is not Meliodas his friend. Ban told Hawk that Meliodas was his greatest friend, but want Elaine to be back. Upset at this, Hawk said what if Elaine did not come back, he will lose his friend and Elaine might not be happy about this. Ban told Hawk what should he do, as when Elaine died, he was depressed, but when he met the other Deadly Sins, he kept himself distracted, but he still knows that he will be alone forever, be it in this world or next, saying this world without her is like Hell. Hawk did not understand Ban, but Meliodas said he understood Ban but said that they should put their fight in a hold until they solve the current matter as the Deadly Sins, which Ban said he understands.

Hendrickson explains that when he first met Meliodas, he felt malevolent, massive powers coming within Meliodas which was a greater power than Zaratras himself and could not get a single read on his thought which made Hendrickson feared, interest and admired Meliodas. However, Hendrickson admits that he now possessed the same power as Meliodas, until Meliodas quickly went pass him and carried Elizabeth without him noticing as he did it again to give Elizabeth to Hawk, so he could take her somewhere safe as he told her that both of them will run the bar again if she survives to comfort her.

For an unknown reason, the black matter on Hawk body started to fade, revealing that Hawk has been revived, but shrunken to smaller size, but this still greatly bring joy to the Deadly Sins, especially Ban. Elizabeth then puts Meliodas' face into her chest which is something she never did before but ended up healing Meliodas with her rune eye while still tearing for joy as Meliodas and Hawk are still alive. Meliodas than embrace the princess, ending their adventure in Liones.

Post-Kingdom Infiltration arc

Merlin befriend Hawk

Merlin rejoins the Deadly Sins

As Liones was being rebuilt due to the battle, Meliodas and Hawk watch over the injured and unconscious Elizabeth as she rested in her bedroom. Hawk wonders why Elizabeth did not heal herself while she healed everyone else in the kingdom. Merlin appears out of nowhere after teleportation, and states that Elizabeth unlocked her power without giving much thought. This healed everyone else because she was thinking about others over herself. Even if Elizabeth had some magic left, she would not heal herself which led to Hawk tearing up, believing that Elizabeth should have thought of her own health first. Meliodas and Merlin discuss the issue regarding the location of the Coffin of Eternal Darkness as it was no longer in Liones. When Merlin used her "Location" spell, it was revealed that a strange bird appeared and fled to the east. She then reveals that she told Arthur that she would be away for a while as she will rejoin the Deadly Sins for the time being.

Meliodas beg Elizabeth to wake up

Meliodas begs Elizabeth to wake up

This made Meliodas glad as she could help them, but he still felt uneasy by her suspicious smile. He states that he still wanted to know what happened ten years ago while Merlin seemed to be interested in Hawk, calling him a hero which made the tiny pig happy and befriend her. Meliodas realizes that he forgot something and went back to Elizabeth's room. Hawk yelled at him, stating that he should not do anything weird to Elizabeth while she is asleep. When Merlin and Margaret appeared in front of Elizabeth's room, Meliodas stepped out of the room with a grin. Some were worried that he did something weird until it was revealed that Elizabeth was up and healed for an unknown reason. Hawk was overjoyed to see Elizabeth being able to walk about but wondered why it was possible. Merlin seemed to know what Meliodas did as it was revealed that he held Elizabeth's hand and told her that he could not possibly live without her which made her wake up.

Meliodas takes Hawk back to the Boar Hat as Ban feeds Hawk with expired food. Gilthunder appears in casual wear, wanting to have a talk Meliodas. The two sit down and enjoy some Bernia ale, being commented by Gilthunder as having a good taste, despite the fact that he called it "only slightly better than a horse's urine" before. Gilthunder states that he is going to relinquish his position as a Holy Knight and become a wanderer. It was to clear his mind from his sin he committed as a Holy Knight despite him working undercover and trying to protect Margaret. Meliodas decided to not place pressure on Gilthunder to give up on his plans because he was already a man and that his decision should be respected. However, he wonders how would Margaret take it. Ban decides to tell Meliodas that he is not just leaving the Boar Hat, but withdrawing from the Seven Deadly Sins, much to Meliodas' surprise. The next day, Meliodas acquires a brand-new uniform from Elizabeth which he plans on wearing from now on. The rest of the Sins get new uniforms as well, except for Merlin. The Sins end up celebrating the festival while working in the Boar Hat.

The next day, when Bartra was about to award the Sins and Hawk for their efforts in restoring the freedom of Liones, Meliodas notices that Hawk has regrown back to normal size and that many Holy Knights were whispering behind Meliodas' back. When Bartra was about to give the award, Meliodas yells an objection to everyone's surprise. When Bartra questions him the reasons behind his objection, he explains that he could not possibly accept the award while everyone was whispering behind their backs and demand to know who they were. A group of Holy Knights, Dogedo, Waillo, and Deathpierce, the Pleiades of the Azure Sky who served under the Great Holy Knight, Denzel, came to Liones to question the Sins regarding the defeat Hendrickson, claiming that they were not strong enough to beat him and demanding to see how strong Meliodas truly is.

Meliodas defeat Dogget

Meliodas defeats Dogedo

Bartra allows the fight to go on as Meliodas fights against Dogedo who is proven to be a powerful Holy Knight, but Meliodas easily dodges his attacks and strikes him. Dogedo insults the Holy Knights and the Great Holy Knights for being weak as he believed that being a true Holy Knight is to wield great power, but Meliodas disagrees and believes that it was the heart that makes a Holy Knight and easily defeated Dogedo by breaking his fingers and landing a punch on him. As Meliodas challenges the other members of Azure Sky, Deathpierce rejects his challenge as the Holy Knights realize how strong Meliodas was. They end up apologizing for their rude behavior. Dogedo was upset as his friend has died during the battle against Hendrickson. Meliodas and the others go to Bartra's throne room where Bartra thanks them for their services but have a grim expression. He states that the Holy War would still be approaching, but has a new view into the future as he saw three heroes fighting against a mountain giant in Camelot. As the group discusses Bartra's warning, they sense a large earthquake that was coming from the east. Meliodas knows the origin of the power and was in a state of shock and anger.

Hawk tieing Meliodas

Meliodas being tied up by Hawk

The next day, Elizabeth runs towards the Boar Hat, wearing a new waitress outfit. She asks Meliodas if she could work in the Boar Hat since the Sins were going to Camelot on a mission by Bartra's orders. However, Meliodas refuses to take her in as her father would be mad for letting her work as a waitress, but she told him that she does not care and wants to run the bar together with Meliodas as they promised. He states that he did not make a promise to her and since they saved the kingdom, there was no need for Elizabeth to work. When she questions Meliodas for being aloof towards her, he starts to harass her the usual way to prove that he is not being aloof until Hawk comes and ties Meliodas up. When Meliodas went to Merlin's house, he comes across Gowther, telling him to get ready for the mission in Camelot. The Sin of Lust refuses to Meliodas' surprise and goes on his date with Guila. Meliodas does not understand as he has never seen the two of them together.

Merlin informed about the Ten Commandments by Meliodas

Meliodas causes Merlin to be excited

As Meliodas gives several thoughts about it, Elizabeth and Diane exit Merlin's house. Elizabeth spots Meliodas and runs away in embarrassment while Diane decided to follow her. When everyone exits Merlin's home, Meliodas enters, demanding to know what happened ten years ago and wants something that was stolen from him. Merlin reveals that she knows that the Demon Clan was set free and believes Hendrickson is still alive. Meliodas was not stirred by the belief that Hendrickson was still alive. What worried him the most were the ones who were set free as he believes that they were the Ten Commandments who were handpicked by the Demon King himself. Merlin gets a bit exhausted as the items in her room fly around. She then asks to talk about this real issue. Suddenly, Merlin and Meliodas were struck by Gowther's Blackout technique that knocked out everyone in the capital unconscious except for Diane and was believed to be affected as well. But later on, they're revealed to be alright as they searched around the city to find the cause of the anomaly.

There they find Elizabeth regaining consciousness and then the aftermath of the skirmish between Diane and Gowther appearing to be ended in a draw. After the short scuffle has been settled for now with Gowther returning Guila's old memories as well as Zeal's including the breakup of their relationship, Meliodas and the others returned to the bar where Slader agree to join with them for a while and Elizabeth wanted to join, but Meliodas shut her down coldly to avoid her getting hurt by the Ten Commandant to the displease of others. However, Merlin got a call from Arthur who was under attack from an Albion and teleported to Camelot to battle the giant.

Galand toying with Meliodas

As the knights of Camelot battle the demons' giant golem, Albion, Meliodas and others aid them while fighting the beast. While Meliodas led Arthur and his men on the giant arm, Meliodas sword, Liz's Sword was destroyed during the battle. While Merlin still refuses to return what she stole from him, she was willing to return his Sacred Treasure, Lostvayne which he uses to split himself into several copies and easily destroy the golem with Full Counter. While some part of the kingdom was destroyed, Arthur thanked Meliodas and the others for their help while Elizabeth felt sorry for Meliodas having his sword broken as it was a great treasure to him, but Meliodas revealed he was fine with it and felt that both Liz and Elizabeth have been looking out for him for a long time. While the group chats fondly, Galand of the Ten Commandments appeared and challenged everyone for a fight. Meliodas was shocked to see him as Galand revealed that he knew Meliodas and was surprised he had not aged for the last three thousand years, but still attacks him. While the Deadly Sins fought bravely and Meliodas even used his demonic power, they still lose to Galand and were believed to be killed by Galand which was revealed to be Invasion by Gowther.

Meliodas tossing King for being too close

Meliodas tosses King

Meliodas later had a nightmare where he loses Liz again and woke up facing Elizabeth who was in tears for worrying about him. Elizabeth soon took Meliodas where the others are healing and sad about losing to Galand. However, Meliodas soon lift everyone spirits by stating they have to train more to get stronger, and as a strategy, Arthur and Elizabeth would have to awake their hidden powers as well. Meliodas believes the situation was so bad, they have to bring in Escanor. Later he checks up on Diane's health with King. It is revealed then that she seems to have lost all of her memories up to the point of meeting Meliodas the first time.

While Meliodas and the others talk about Diane's lost memories, King kept Diane company until she started to lose more memories and ran off. Gowther soon revealed that he used Lost World on her to test if her feelings for King were stronger than she said, provoking King to punch Gowther. The others follow Diane who was heading to Megadozer until they are stopped by Monspeet fire ball which Hawk Mama eats, to the others surprise. While they could not sense Diane power level anymore, Meliodas believes she is fine and should focus on their training until they meet Diane again. Meliodas decides the first thing to do is head to Istar, the home of the Druids and the location of Meliodas strength.

Meliodas enduring his trial of nightmares

Meliodas' trial

While the Boar Hat traveled to Istar, Merlin revealed the reason for her to steal Meliodas's power was that he could not control his emotions very well, and nearly destroyed Liones when a young girl got herself injured during the framing ten years ago, possibly being Elizabeth. Merlin then somehow stole Meliodas's strength and gave it to the Druids for safe keeping. Once they travel there, they were greeted by the head of the Druids, Jenna and Zaneri along with their bodyguard Theo. When they request them for training and Meliodas strength, they agree to help out while Zaneri led Meliodas and Elizabeth inside the castle to test them. Zaneri soon revealed to have feelings for Meliodas as she wants him to grope her and seem jealous of Elizabeth, while Meliodas show no interest in her. Zaneri then tests Meliodas by sending him through memory lane to the day Danafor was destroyed to see if he could control his emotion when Liz died. However, Meliodas repeated the day so many times, he soon started to lose it until he was inspired by Elizabeth and tried it once more, passing the test to Zaneri's surprise.

Meliodas' punch sends Galan flying away

Meliodas battling Galand once more

Meliodas soon went to the training ground where the others were training and pair off with King. However, once inside, King started to fight him instead of the Amber they were supposed to choose. King started to question Meliodas motivation and that if he was on their side which Meliodas refuse to answer as he believes King would not believe him anyway. After much battling, the two come to an agreement to work together while King keeps an eye on him. Once out of the training cave, Jenna gives back Meliodas strength which could be sensed by the Ten Commandments from afar. Meliodas soon request Merlin to teleport him to the Ten Commandments location to greet them and payback at Galand which she did, but only for ten seconds. Meliodas used the ten second to utterly defeat Galand and said his greeting to Zeldris which the latter and Fraudrin attempt to attack him, only for him to be teleported away before they connect.

After returning and revealing everyone that he made the Commandments to spread around the land, they soon scolded Meliodas for making them angry and cause havoc. However, Meliodas soon revealed that he made them split up to be easier to take them out then fighting them in a whole group which calm the group down, but King remain unease with Meliodas decision. Meliodas check out the other's group training which led to Arthur having a cat-like on his head and Griamore to be a child again. Meliodas then see Hawk new form which he was stunned, but ignored him and soon ask Zaneri how Elizabeth doing in her trials. Elizabeth returned to the group to see how their training was. Elizabeth also got a new outfit for battle as Zaneri believed it would be easier for her to move while Meliodas enjoy the outfit and led to him poking Howzer eye for ogling Elizabeth, hinting a jealous side. Meliodas ask Elizabeth how was her training. Elizabeth responded that she failed respectful to everyone surprise. After everyone's training, the Deadly Sins decided to head out to stop the Ten Commandments and find Escanor. Before heading out, Meliodas cheered Elizabeth up for failing her trial by saying it's okay to fail as he failed the trials a thousand times and knows that Elizabeth has some crazy power hidden. This quickly cheers Elizabeth up and promise to be of help to them and soon restore their relationship.

While traveling, Meliodas asked how Gilthunder and Howzer training was and noticed they got stronger to Gilthunder joy. Meliodas soon got around to ask Hawk what happened to him while training which Hawk revealed that he got eaten by a Tyrant Dragon while being paired up with Oslo, but Hawk soon ate his way through the dragon stomach and somehow gain its abilities, even though they are a weaker version of them. Hawk soon read Meliodas and was a shock to find out that Meliodas power level increase to 32,500 and was stunned to find out that Escanor is far stronger than Meliodas, but Meliodas soon revealed that despite getting his power back, he needed to train along the way to get stronger as he became rusty.

Later, Meliodas and Arthur meet with Ban, immediately have an arm-wrestling match with Ban wins easily. Meliodas forgives Ban who still relatively depressed about having tried to kill him back at Liones and invites him to come along to search for Elizabeth and the others.[55] After the duo makes amends with one another, Meliodas is able to sense that Elizabeth is on the other side of a large wall, with the two both nothing that he would reach her soon. Ban and Meliodas both release respectively powerful attacks, resulting in the structure between himself and Elizabeth's group being destroyed, but an entire open path to the other contestants and the hosts themselves. After Gloxinia fatally wounds Escanor and quickly brings him back to optimal health, he has Drole split the group into teams of two.

Meliodas vs

Meliodas battling the Ten Commandments

Ban and Meliodas find themselves working together, though they wait in great suspense as both Elizabeth and Elaine begin their match. Once it's over, the two themselves have a cakewalk defeating a pair of blue demons, all the while debating over who's girlfriend was better and not even noticing the fight was really started. Once King and Diane's matches are over, it's now fallen upon Escanor and Hawk to fight Jericho and Gowther. The latter's attempt to control Lion's Sin fails, as he ends up using Merlin as his own 'sun' and Rhitta's stored Sunshine power to attack Drole and Gloxinia. Taking advantage of this, Meliodas quickly rushes to attack the injured Commandments. After injuring Drole quite grievously, the demon resorts to taking hostages out of his comrades, though this is ineffective as the Sin of Wrath removes the remaining two arms he has left in response. Controlling the tide of the battle for the majority, slicing through Drole's body and arms as well as manhandling Gloxinia, the former Fairy King's armor even breaking after landing a blow on Meliodas. It was likely the battle would have ended in his favor, up until the rest of the Ten Commandments had arrived on the scene.

Meliodas vs Estarossa

Estarossa stopping Meliodas' Revenge Counter

Once on the scene, he was a quick stare off against Zeldris, before attacking his younger brother with LostVayne, only to have his own arm caught off mid-swing. In retaliation, the Dragon's sin kicks the Commandment away in order to retrieve his detached arm only to be stopped by his brother once again. After being put under a spell by Grayroad, he retrieves and attaches his arm once more after a brief exchange with Zeldris, smashing the ground to create a smoke screen and escape, only to be barred from doing by previous spell. After being attacked by Derieri's Combo Star attack, his wrists are battered harshly, only to be praised for surviving and soon after attacked by Monspeet. Emerging from the flames and slicing through the former's throat to no avail, he finds himself without his mark and hopelessly outgunned. After pleading for Dreyfus to fight Fraudrin's control, the demon feigns as such only to attack Meliodas with Break. Gloxinia being equally brutal in attacking with Basquias, resulting in a large, powerful explosion that leaves the captain looking exhausted and once again with his arm blown off. Appearing to be defeated and scolded by Zeldris, Meliodas activates Revenge Counter, having gathered enough strength to frighten the remaining Commandments with the possibility of either death and or defeat. However, this is quickly dispelled thanks to Estarossa's Commandment, and Meliodas is left powerless.

Meliodas dead

Meliodas' death

Estarossa then goes on to antagonize his brother for how he betrayed them, wishing to hear him suffer more whilst he continued stepping on him, Meliodas mouthing something though he seems to be unable to completely speak it. Then going in depth about how in the past, when Meliodas was the leader of the original Ten Commandments, he admired his strength and heartlessness, and that he could have become the Demon King. Melascula then steps up, desiring to eat Meliodas' soul for herself, wanting payback for what transpired with Escanor and Ban. The immortal himself shows up soon after this, snapping the demon's neck, removing her hearts, and destroying them effectively killing her. Despite his intentions, Meliodas, though with a smile, reprimanded Ban for jumping in so recklessly, with Ban remarking that idiots stick together.

After being assisted to his feet, Ban is soon after thanked for killing Melascula citing that he'd have done so himself if he had not for trying to take his brother's very soul. Though the distance between them is cleared quickly, having stabbed Meliodas in one of his hearts before either sin could react. Using an attack he calls Rebellion to summon six other swords, Estarossa explains that the upper echelons of the Demon Clan have seven hearts, and once all of a demons hearts are crushed, they die. Ban attempts to stop Estarossa, but he is ignored as Estarossa stabs one heart after another, finally killing Meliodas.

The Demon King states that he will feed on Meliodas' emotions to regain his lost power and to return Meliodas back to his former personality. Meliodas refuses and attacks. When Meliodas finally returns to the living world, he finds that the Ten Commandments have been wrecking even more havoc. He saves Elizabeth just as Derieri was about to kill her, punching a large hole in her abdomen. He then apologizes to a crying Elizabeth for taking so long to come back.

Meliodas deflecting Derieri's blows

Meliodas fighting Derieri

Derieri interrupts them striking Hawk Mama, after chaining several Combo Star attacks. Hawk tries to intervene but is kicked by Derieri. This provokes Meliodas, who grabs Derieri by the neck and smash her into the ground, resetting her combos in the process. Meliodas starts to get relentlessly attacked by Derieri, however, Meliodas effortlessly deflects all hits. He knocks her down, resetting the combo again. Derieri continues attacking Meliodas in vain. Meliodas states a quote that describes how his old self would have approached the current situation. Monspeet intervenes in the fight to aid his partner, shooting his technique Kaijinryu at Meliodas, but before the attack reaches him, he kicks Derieri into the air and uses Full Counter, after activating his demon mark. The attack is reflected towards Monspeet and Derieri as well, seemingly destroying them.

After that, Meliodas joins the fight against Fraudrin. Fraudrin battles Meliodas, but even with his gigantification ability, the Sin overpowers him with ease. Merlin realizes that he is using a clone, stating also that his power level is now 60,000, and after activating his demon mark is even higher. Fraudrin exclaims surprised how Meliodas' power is similar to how was in the past. He tries to attack, but Meliodas swiftly attacks Fraudrin, piercing multiple holes in his body. Severely injured, Fraudrin shrinks to his normal size. He says that he and the other Commandments have been waiting to take revenge against Meliodas and the goddesses. Meliodas compressively pats Fraudrin's face, but then rudely pushes him to the side. Ban feels that there is something off about the captain. Meliodas remarks how Fraudrin is not an actual Commandment but rather a substitute. Fraudrin talks back saying that Meliodas cast aside the pride of the Demon Clan. Fraudrin then decides to wipe out Liones by immolating himself. Meliodas gets bored and tells him that he should just hurry up and die. Griamore stops Fraudrin from self-destruction. Fraudrin, moved, surrenders and tells Meliodas to kill him. Meliodas mercilessly kills him without a moment's thought.

Meliodas killing Fraudrin

Meliodas kills Fraudrin

Ban walks towards his captain, telling him that he's glad his partner is not dead and decides to have a toast later. Later Meliodas searches through the destroyed Boar Hat for food and beverages. Elizabeth found Meliodas and eats with him. She states how Meliodas is a generous and gentle person. Meliodas tells Elizabeth how Ban was looking at him with an unrecognizable look. Then Meliodas starts to describe the giddy feeling he had when he killed Fraudrin. He starts to cry and admits that he is scared of turning into the way he used to be. He continues to say that he will not be able to save Elizabeth if he does not turn back to his old self. Elizabeth comforts Meliodas and declares that she will never leave his side no matter what.

Meliodas visits Merlin and Escanor while she is taking a bath. Ban asks where Meliodas was because they could not celebrate properly and then apologizes for not knowing what expression to make. Meliodas tells him that there was nothing to apologize for. Ban insults Meliodas' vacant look, and he is punched by Meliodas so that he would shut up.

Meliodas and Ban searching for Gowther

Meliodas and Ban searching for Gowther

When King and Diane fell out of the sky, Diane landed on Meliodas, and after stating that they wish that the captain was still alive, Meliodas tells them that he still is alive. Diane and King are shocked, believing that he is a ghost, however, Escanor tells them that is the actual captain. Meliodas skips through a long story and said that he was revived, and then King replies, telling him that was too short. King apologizes to Meliodas, and then Ban and Meliodas check out King's wings. Meliodas congratulates him on growing wings and is then teased by Ban. Meliodas notices that there is something different about King and Diane. After Diane talks about the promise she made 3,000 years ago, Meliodas and Merlin become shocked. Meliodas questions if she actually said 3,000 years ago. After Bartra shows Gowther's "heart", he then runs away, and Meliodas and the other sins help Diane and King catch him by law number 4 of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Ban asks if Meliodas knew that Gowther was a doll, and Meliodas responds, saying that he also knew the person who made him and describes him as a powerful magician that the Demon King acknowledged. He continues to describe the Commandment, Selflessness and why the Demon King imprisoned him. Adding on, he said that Gowther (the doll) was a substitute, modeled after his lover with a male body so that he would not feel any lust towards the doll. Since Gowther is a doll, it made it hard for them to locate Gowther. After Gowther gets his heart back, Meliodas states that they did not have to intervene.

Awaiting the unveiling of the newly rebuilt Boar Hat, Meliodas and Ban impatiently wait for Hawk to reveal it. Because they could not wait any longer, they both took off the sheet on the building. They raced to get the room that they desired, and since they could not decide who would get the room, they flipped a coin.

Meliodas helping Merlin

Meliodas helps Merlin

To celebrate Boar Hat being rebuilt and the reunion of the Seven Deadly Sins, Meliodas, and the sins had a drinking party. Meliodas drank a barrel of alcohol while Diane cheers him on. When Merlin arrives, Meliodas notices something wrong with Merlin. With all the sins in the room, they toast to the reunion. Diane asks Gowther how his creator ended the Holy War, and Meliodas and Merlin questioned that. However, Gowther could not give a response. Meanwhile, Elizabeth keeps thinking about how there was an Elizabeth with Meliodas 3,000 years ago and questions it. Meliodas comes out of nowhere and harasses Elizabeth, asking her why she was staring off. He lets Elizabeth knows that she can ask him anything, which leads to Elizabeth telling him that she wants to talk later. After Elizabeth walks off, Merlin reestablishes the fact that Zeldris is still alive. Meliodas prioritizes freeing the people of Liones and liberating Camelot first before fighting Zeldris. When Merlin walks off and enters a room, she almost collapses and is caught by the captain. Meliodas then asks if Zeldris did something to her, however, she tries to avoid answering it. He sets her on the bed and tells her that he knows she's trying to protect Arthur. Gasping and begging Meliodas, she asks him to help because he is her hope.

Meliodas worried

Meliodas worried of Elizabeth's words

A while after Merlin passes out, Meliodas and Elizabeth walk to a mountain for their talk. He asks Elizabeth if she recalls playing on the mountain with him when she was a kid, however, she does not really remember that time. She asks him if he thinks it's a coincidence that Liz passed away 16 years ago, and she was born 16 years ago and that they had the same name. Meliodas remarks how they were not alike. She continues to say that during King and Diane's training, they met another Elizabeth that looks just like her. Meliodas becomes surprised that they know that and starts getting worried. Elizabeth sort of freaks out, but Meliodas tries to put it off as exhaustion. Elizabeth also informs him how Derieri mistook her for someone else, and then she tells him that she is ready to accept what he has to say. To avoid giving a real answer, Meliodas tells her that it does not ring a bell. Elizabeth saddened a little, tells him that she trusts him more than anyone else and leaves to the bar. Meliodas finally notices Ban and King above him, and Ban states how he screwed up. Meliodas asks what they're doing and if they heard the conversation, luckily, they did not hear it. Ban asks what caused trouble between them, and King teases him about needing to know how the heart of a young maiden works. This led to Meliodas punching a hole in Ban and then flicking King's head with his fingers. Meliodas thinks about Elizabeth's words and says he is not ready.

As soon as Elizabeth breaks the spell on Merlin, Meliodas busts through the door and asks what happened. He was quite surprised that Elizabeth broke the spell. Noticing that Elizabeth was worn out, he offers a back rub, but Elizabeth said she was okay, and she wanted some alone time. She starts thinking about Meliodas as soon as she leaves. Continuing with the mission, Meliodas and the others head towards the city of Corand.

Meliodas reveals that Elizabeth will die

Meliodas reveals that Elizabeth will die in three days

During the trip to Corand, Ban asks Meliodas to sit out the mission, and Meliodas allows him to. He acknowledges that Ban is doing because of Elaine. Ban tells him that she can not handle anymore and her death is inevitable, so staying with her is what he wants to do. Before Meliodas can finish sympathizing, Ban cuts him off to say does he understand how to feels to let your lover die again. Meliodas looks away in a sad expression. Hawk busts through the door, exclaiming that there's something wrong to Meliodas. Meliodas comes in the bar to see that Elizabeth is acting strange, and she informs him that Barzad was bitten by a werefox. Meliodas becomes shocked, realizing that she's getting her memories back. After the goddess symbol appears on both of Elizabeth's eyes, she faints. Not knowing what's going on, Diane questions if Zeldris' curse moved to Elizabeth. She is then corrected by Meliodas, who says that her memories of all her previous incarnations are coming back. After Diane informs King about Elizabeth's reincarnation, she is silenced by Merlin. She points out how the captain was being cynical to Elizabeth for ignoring her. Meliodas tells everyone that Elizabeth is going to die in three days. Everyone becomes appalled, and Diane asks if he is joking. Meliodas made up his mind and decides to tell everyone about his three thousand year journey. Meliodas reveals that his curse is immortality while Elizabeth curse is perpetual reincarnation, bestowed by their parents after being killed by them. He also reveals that the only way to break their curses would be for one to get the power off to the ones who cast it, or someone with equivalent power, like Zeldris. When Diane tearfully asked what will happen if he breaks the curses, as the rest of the sins are utterly shocked and sympathetic for the separated lovers, Meliodas sadly smiles stating they will die for real this time and be forever reunited in the afterlife as he had promised Elizabeth. He comforts Diane and asks her and the rest of the Sins to remain focused on their mission.

Meliodas prisioner of Melascula

Meliodas prisoner of Melascula

After saving Peliot and his village from demons as requested by Gowther, the Sins arrive at the abandoned city stronghold of Corand. Someone is waiting for them, and they see it is Zeldris, causing Meliodas to rush in blind rage at his estranged brother who tells him to "wake up" and stop being deceived by Elizabeth. Despite the other's protests, Meliodas follows through but ends up getting trapped in Melascula's Dark Cocoon, who created an illusion of Zeldris to lure Meliodas in and keep him from protecting the others from her and uses an altered version of her Vengeful Return to reanimate the deceased victims of Corand who were slayed five hundred years ago, despite being only skeletons. They quickly deal with them, who are being powered by Meliodas' negative demonic energy and in desperation, Melascula attempts to force all the power into a single skeleton, but its bones are destroyed from too much power.

Meliodas taunts her failed plan but returns it with an alternate plan. She uses her magic to allow the angry souls of the city's population to possess Diane, causing her to have red and bloody eyes from having multiple souls in her body and from being extremely hostile. They use Diane as their host to attack the others and even goes as far to hurt Diane's body, but is momentarily stopped when Helbram, the one who killed the people of Corand, offers them to have their revenge by destroying the helmet he possessed.

That is not enough to satisfy their rage and the deceased souls begin causing destruction but are finally forced out of Diane when Elizabeth steps in. Melascula is angered by this and tells Meliodas she will go out there to kill her personally. Meliodas is pushed against the wall by the thought of Elizabeth dying and is forced to let go of all his human emotions and return to his original personality in order to unlock his complete power, the Assault Mode. The cost is him returning to his true self from 3,000 years ago: the most savage-hearted demon in existence.

Meliodas overwhelms Escanor

Meliodas overwhelms Escanor

He destroys the Cocoon of Darkness and is now a danger to anyone and everyone. Escanor challenges him and Merlin puts a Perfect Cube around them to protect the others while Escanor attempts to pacify him. Meliodas, having lost his memories, tells Escanor that a human can not talk to the greatest warrior of the Demon Clan like that, angering him. The two fight and Meliodas has a big advantage over Escanor despite it being so close to noon. Meliodas seems to have won when he crosses Escanor with Lostvayne and releases a Hellblaze through his belly. Escanor manages to recover thanks to the sun. Although Escanor takes some confidence when his power increases to 114,000, Meliodas quickly incapacitates him from a single blow. Hawk reads his power level, which reached 142,000.

Meliodas suffers alongside Elizabeth

Meliodas suffers alongside Elizabeth

The fight is resumed and although Escanor manages to disarm Meliodas and beat him, he ends up defeating him by Full Countering his Cruel Sun and giving him a coup de grace. But Escanor uses all the saved power he has stored over the years just as he becomes The One at high noon. Meliodas tenaciously launches back into battle, attacking Escanor with Kami Chigiri, without effect. Escanor is finally able to defeat Meliodas in a single attack, rendering him unconscious, but causes even worse damage to himself.

Merlin is responsible for transporting Meliodas to Boar Hat with her telekinesis, although Elizabeth insists on healing him, Merlin says that if Meliodas tries to attack them. Already in the Boar Hat, Merlin is forced to leave Meliodas unconscious when he manages to recover from his wounds in battle and then encloses him with Elizabeth in her Perfect Cube.

Prelude to the New Holy War arc

While Meliodas remained unconscious with Elizabeth inside the Perfect Cube, his old master Chandler appears suddenly, having gone in search of him. After he undid the Perfect Cube and incapacitated Merlin, Meliodas and Elizabeth are removed from Boar Hat by Diane. While the other Sins are involved in a battle against Chandler, Meliodas remains unprotected by Elizabeth, receiving one of Chandler's attacks during combat. In the end, Meliodas is returned to Boar Hat and taken away along with all the others by Drole and Gloxinia, who sacrifice themselves to stop Chandler.

Meliodas declaring that he will become the Demon King

Meliodas declares that he will become the Demon King

Already in the Boar Hat, Meliodas begins to release a poisonous miasma that affects others, so Elizabeth decides to take him outside. Without anyone noticing, Meliodas briefly recovered the constriction and stole Grayroad's Commandment while that was in Merlin's test tube.

When Chandler reaches the Boar Hat, Meliodas wakes up with Elizabeth still holding on to him as Chandler bows to him. While Ban tries to tell him that he is their comrade, Meliodas affirms that he remembers the rest of the Sins, Elizabeth, and Hawk and decides not to kill them. However, he claims that the Seven Deadly Sins are disbanded and for the shock of everyone, he declares that to save Elizabeth from the curse, he will have to become the new Demon King. After declaring a word of defiance to his father through the eyes of Hawk, Meliodas gives as his last words to his companions that the days he spent with them were not bad. Meliodas leaves with Chandler and Elizabeth, ignoring her words of to not do such a thing for her.

Meliodas submits Zeldris and Estarossa

Meliodas beats Zeldris and Estarossa to submission

Meliodas arrives at the castle of Camelot and meets with Zeldris, who complains of the traitor returning to them and begins to argue with Meliodas over who will become the next Demon King. Their discussion is interrupted when Estarossa appears and says he has no interest in the throne itself and more of the fight over it but is shocked to see Elizabeth there. He instead decides he wants Elizabeth, to which Meliodas declares that both the throne of Demon King and Elizabeth belong to him alone. This triggers a confrontation between the three as Zeldris and Estarossa prepare to attack their estranged brother, but Meliodas is far too powerful for both of them together, even with the portion of their father's power that Zeldris has, and effortlessly immobilized the both of them. Elizabeth begs him to spare their lives, and he does so, with Estarossa complimenting him for returning to his old self but Zeldris is still very angry at Meliodas for his betrayal and claims he does not care about the throne and only wants the power to save Elizabeth and Meliodas does not deny the fact.

Zeldris attempts to attack him once more but Meliodas appears behind him and restrains him and whispers to his younger brother the reason for wanting the throne and Zeldris begrudgingly agrees to help Meliodas, to the shock of Cusack and Peronia. Agreeing with Zeldris, Meliodas affirms that he will not reach the power of the Demon King taking the power that he lends to Zeldris as initially planned. Zeldris begins to ask Meliodas if he plans to train to reach their father's level of power, but he complains saying there is not enough time and to save Elizabeth, he must use the most immediate solution: absorb all ten of the Commandments into himself. Revealing Grayroad's Commandment that he had stolen, in addition to those of Gloxinia, Drole, and Gowther that Zeldris already had, Meliodas entrusts his brothers to go and collect the other Commandments.

Elizabeth slapping Meliodas with Ark

Elizabeth slaps Meliodas

Zeldris and Estarossa both go off to claim the other four decrees while Meliodas stays behind to protect Elizabeth from Chandler and any other demons who may try to attack her. In another room, Elizabeth begs Meliodas to rethink things and ask the rest of the Sins for help. He says this is the only way but reveals the horrible truth that once he becomes Demon King, he will most likely no longer be able to stay in Britannia. Elizabeth tearfully asks what the point of breaking the curse then is, at which Meliodas realistically points out that he believes that her love for him is imprinted by the Supreme Deity, which angers and saddens her and causes her to ask why he does not just find another girl to love. Surprisingly, Meliodas reverts to his human-like form and explains that Elizabeth is the only girl he'll ever love. She happily embraces him but Meliodas then returns to his demon form and bluntly says that he felt nothing and that the promise he made to her 3,000 years ago is all he has left. Elizabeth decides that she is going to team up with the other Sins to stop Meliodas from absorbing the Commandments and angrily slaps him into a wall with Ark before she runs off, promising to save him. Meliodas quickly runs in search of her but is unable to find her.

Shortly after, Meliodas observes the light coming from the pact formed between Elizabeth and Ludociel, aware that the Four Archangels joined the battle, looking serious.

When Zeldris returns announcing his failure to recover Melascula's Commandment due to Merlin's deception, it reveals that the Four Archangels had been revived. Meliodas confirms it by affirming that Elizabeth and the Sins had allied with them, leading Zeldris to make fun of Elizabeth fleeing him. Meliodas says that none of that will matter once he has become the Demon King, as it would easily give him enough power to destroy all the opposers.

Arthur avoiding Zeldris and Meliodas

Meliodas and Zeldris fights Arthur

Something later, Arthur infiltrates the castle to retrieve the holy sword Excalibur and use it to free Camelot. However, it is intercepted by Zeldris and Cusack before reaching it. There, Meliodas reveals himself to the young king, telling him that this is no longer a place for humans but giving him a chance to leave. When Arthur asks him why he is with the demons, Meliodas reveals that the man he knew no longer exists. Devastated by the betrayal of the one he most admired, Arthur unleashes his fury by taking Excalibur. Meliodas and Zeldris shudder to feel the strange magic coming from the sword.

After surviving the Exterminate Ray de Chandler, Arthur manages to cut it in half with Excalibur, going on to do the same with Cusack. Surprised, Meliodas and Zeldris receive their attack as well, destroying a good part of the castle.

Once outside, Meliodas recognizes one of the techniques that Arthur used as the one belonging to the former swordmaster Craften, understanding that they are dealing with the power of Excalibur. Meliodas and Zeldris attack Arthur together, but he dodges them with speed, and they strike a powerful attack on both. However, both demons are unharmed.

After Arthur fell debilitated when not being able to support the power of Excalibur, Cusack made it in face and babbles on how to kill it. However, Merlin appears in the last minute saving Arthur with her Icicle Castle. Meliodas asks Merlin to return Melascula's Commandment, but Merlin tells him that just as he tries to save Elizabeth, his friends and his beloved are giving everything to save him. Merlin tells him not to forget it before teleporting along with Arthur and Cath.

Meliodas absorbs the Commandments

Meliodas absorbs the Commandments

As time passes and Estarossa does not return from his search, Meliodas decides to go ahead and absorb the five Commandments he already has, including Zeldris'. Meliodas tells Zeldris that he must deliver the other five before it is half a day after he has absorbed the others, in order to properly complete the ritual to obtain his power.

Meliodas asks Zeldris if he will be alright facing the Four Archangels without his Commandment, but Zeldris is more concerned that Meliodas will fulfill the promise he made to him, to which Meliodas affirms that he will fulfill it once he absorbs the Ten Commandments and becomes in the Demon King. Meliodas proceeds to absorb the five Commandments, after giving Zeldris an apology for the kind of older brother he was.

In order to properly absorb the Commandments, Meliodas locks himself in a cocoon and releases a large sphere of darkness around the castle of Camelot, passing under the protection of Zeldris, Chandler and Cusack.

Ban finds Meliodas in the Purgatory

Ban finally finds Meliodas's emotions

In the Purgatory, Meliodas's emotions and soul, after an indeterminate time wandering, almost lost his self, having become a dragon-like black creature. Ban, who was in the Purgatory for centuries searching Meliodas's emotions, and the beast fight fiercely and continuously for another few decades, until it comes to a halt, surprising Ban, who believes that the creature grew fond of him.

Ban wonders where Meliodas could be in this place and express his desire to see his woman again. Then a voice agrees with him. Ban looks for the source of that voice, when notices that the dragon have disappeared. It is revealed then that the dragon was in fact Meliodas' emotions all along, who seems to have gone back to their true state, still longing to be reunited with Elizabeth.

Ban greets Meliodas when he wakes up. Meliodas believes that only an illusion, pro Ban reveals that it is real. Meliodas hugs him, crying disconsolately.

Ban and Meliodas in the Purgatory

Ban and Meliodas in the Purgatory

Meliodas and Ban start talking about the Purgatory. When Ban reveals that he went there to look for him, Meliodas asks him if he knows a way out of the Purgatory. Ban realizes that he never cared how to return. Meliodas is disappointed in his stupidity, questioning him to throw himself into the Purgatory without even anticipating an escape route. Ban says that he could not leave him alone in such a place. Meliodas is happy to at least have his friend with him in that horrible place, to which both are pleased.

Ban and Meliodas decide to get going to find a way to return. Meliodas suggests that before they should look for something to cover their nudity, but Ban reminds him that in that place even the armor ends up disintegrating. Meliodas then shows him the two kinds of creatures that inhabit the Purgatory, one of them, the alien species, which evolved to survive in the Purgatory, can be used to make suitable clothing.

Ban saves Meliodas from a Purgatory monster

Ban tries to capture one of these creatures, but his speed allows him to avoid it completely and go after Meliodas. Seeing how the creature manages to knock him down easily, Ban asks him what happened with his monstrous force. Meliodas understands that being only the emotions of the real Meliodas, he will only end up delaying Ban. Even so, Ban affirms that he will carry with him. He tries to use his Fox's Hunt on the creature, but it returns to avoid it with his speed. Ban begins to chase, being unable to catch it.

Taking a rest from the persecution, Meliodas asks him how much he must have suffered in Purgatory with a body of flesh. Ban tells him that he lost count of how many times he was about to surrender, spending the first hundred years reliving from burning to ashes, frozen to the bone and rotting from deadly poisons. However, after two hundred years, he ended up getting used to all that, even being able to sleep in the process. There, Ban manages to wait and use a quick blow to finally kill the creature.

Ban and Meliodas eating

Ban and Meliodas eating a Purgatory beast

While making new clothes with the skin of the creature, Meliodas thanks Ban saying that he is incredible. Ban tells him that when Merlin told him that the Demon King had captured him, he hoped he was locked somewhere. Meliodas explains that at first it was like that, but in the end he managed to escape but ended up giving up on finding a way out and became a monster. Ban asks him if the Demon King was okay with letting him wander with the possibility of finding the exit, giving Meliodas with the conclusion that the Demon King is the one who watches the exit of the Purgatory. After finishing their new clothes, Ban and Meliodas decide to start their escape mission. While touring the Purgatory, Ban asks Meliodas what he wants to do first after having returned to the real world. Meliodas tells him that he wants to break Elizabeth's curse and drink enough barnya to fill his eyes, and Ban says that he will revive Elaine and drinks enough aberdeen to bathe in it.

Several monsters attack them, rendering Meliodas unable to fight and trapped by them. There, Ban manages to save him and uses Crazy Hunt to kill all the monsters. Noticing the presence of another, Ban kills him from a distance, affirming that the flesh of that creature is the most delicious.

While they eat the creature's flesh, Ban mentions that they do not really need to eat being an immortal and a soul in a fake body, but that doing it really makes them feel alive. Meliodas says that even though they have spent five hundred years without seeing each other, he does not stop being surprised at his ability to adapt to things. Ban says that he had no other option, but Meliodas says he is not surprised that he tried to adapt, but that he could. Ban mentions that burns and frostbite have stopped affecting him and that he can breathe rotten air without problems. Meliodas declares that he is the only human who has survived so long in the Purgatory and retained his rationality, Ban says that it is due to his immortality, but Meliodas remarks that with that it would not be enough. Ban believes that it is because he was raised in a horrible environment as a child, but Meliodas does not believe that it is related. Meliodas tells him that his body and soul have been explosively transformed by what he has experienced, and that everyone on the other side will be greatly shocked to see him. Although he does not feel it himself, Ban hopes to be strong enough to face the Ten Commandments. Meliodas laughs at his claim, causing Ban to get angry.

Ban and Meliodas meet Wild

Ban and Meliodas meet Wild

Ban points out that he now knows the true size of his power by not seeing him suffer the wounds that his immortal body suffered, claiming that when he returns to his body, no one can oppose him. Ban and Meliodas begin to talk happily about what they will do when they find the Demon King and escape, Ban says he will play games with Elaine and all the Seven Deadly Sins will meet in the Boar Hat while Meliodas does not cook. There, both notice the presence of some individual observing them.

Meliodas launches to attack his spy with his sword, but all his thrusts are avoided. Ban tries to catch him, but the spy just leaves his hand on the bones and catching him in the back. Ban asks if he is a subordinate of the Demon King, the spy denies it but says that he can take both to the Demon King if they both help him too. When asked what he wants help with, Ban and Meliodas are shocked to see that individual, posing as Wild, looking exactly identical to Hawk. Wild declares to be a warrior in search of his younger brother. Ban and Meliodas wonder if this brother is Hawk, Wild says that his brother is called Mild, but that having been sent to another world since he was born, he might not remember his real name. Realizing that Hawk could be his brother, Wild breaks into tears of joy.

In the face of the impending sandstorm, Wild takes Ban and Meliodas to his home and offers them wild boar broths. After telling them about how his brother had been kidnapped by the Demon King, revealing Meliodas that it was to use him as a spy window like with other many animals, he asks both of them to tell him about Hawk. After hearing them, Wild is shocked to know how Hawk is, but affirms that he will love him no matter what.

After passing the sandstorm, Band, Wild, and Meliodas went to whether Demon King’s location. On the way, Ban asks how long the Demon King has been in Purgatory, Wild tells him that he has been there long before he was born millions of years ago, and Meliodas says that the time correspond with the 3,000 years of the living world. Wild also tells them that he faced the Demon King 120,118 times when he was looking for his brother. When Meliodas says that he is a good older brother, Ban asks him why he should be. Upon learning that he also has a younger brother, Ban asks him about Zeldris.

Ban, Meliodas and Wild looking for the Demon King

Meliodas stops to talk to Ban and Wild about their younger brothers, Zeldris and Estarossa. Ban is surprised to learn that Estarossa is his brother, claiming that they have no resemblance, to which Meliodas says he cannot help him in that, leading Ban to ask him to continue his story. After listening to the past of Meliodas and Zeldris, Ban is emotional saying that what they both lived was not useless. When Wild asks about Estarossa, Ban reproaches him. There, Meliodas begins to feel strange about his memories of Estarossa. Suddenly, a voice interrupts them, claiming that he does not remember anything about Estarossa either. This is revealed to be the Demon King.

Meliodas and the Demon King realizing the truth about Estarossa

After Wild failed to attack him, the Demon King unleashes a blow on all three. Ban manages to evade and catch Meliodas half fallen, surprised of the incredible power of the Demon King. Ban uses his Physical Hunt on him, but to his surprise, his own energy is being absorbed instead. Upon falling from his exhausted strength, Ban is caught by Meliodas, after the Demon King threw lightning bolts all over the place. Ban wonders what kind of magical power Demon King possesses, which was able to render useless his Snatch and Meliodas's Full Counter, as well as Wild's attacks. Meliodas reveals the power of his father, also called the "Demon King", as "The Ruler". There, both the Demon King and Meliodas talks about his memories of Estarossa, when Meliodas tells him that while Estarossa was his son, he was born without the power of darkness and a weak-hearted coward who could not even kill a single insect, the Demon King completes that part by saying that he took pity on him and gave him a Commandment, shocking Meliodas. The Demon King then realizes that Gowther is behind this as he was the only Commandment who betrayed the King and the only one who can do so.

Meliodas recieving another crushing defeat from his father

Meliodas receiving another crushing defeat from his father

While sixty years pass in the Purgatory, the trio still battles the Demon King, being defeated every single time they charge at him. After their 6,093th defeat, the three stop to eat. Meliodas begins to think that maybe Elizabeth will not die if he does not return, but Ban convinces him that they should not surrender until they escape and can eliminate the curse of Elizabeth and revive Elaine.

Ban and the others return to launch themselves against the Demon King, only so that the same succession of events that lead to be easily defeated by The Ruler is repeated. Before knocking out Meliodas and blowing away Ban and Wild too, the Demon King notes that Meliodas's Full Counter is just a weak copy of Chandler's magic power. Only with his original magic power can he even hope to fight against him but mocks him for being too afraid, hence making it impossible for him to use it. When they were thrown away, Ban discovers that his powers could also "heal", as Wild's wounds have been "healed" by him by "giving" some of his own life, a fact that develops after the sixty years of his power being absorbed by the Demon King. There, Ban asks Meliodas about what the Demon King said about that Full Counter is not his true magical power, getting angry when Meliodas only gives him evasive answers. However, upon analysing what happened during their fights, they also discovered how to get around with Demon King's power, and they charge at him once again.

The Demon King about to finish Meliodas's emotions

The Demon King about to finish Meliodas's emotions

Ban, instead of using his Snatch to try to steal the strength of the Demon King, uses it to give him his own power instead. This surprisingly ends up weakening the Demon King. Meliodas reveals that The Ruler actually reverses the effects of enemy abilities, turning damage and debilitation into power and healing.

Ban uses his infinite life to keep weakening the Demon King to allow Meliodas and Wild to reach the exit of the Purgatory, However, the Demon King manages to revert the effect by switching off his power. Meliodas then tries to battle the Demon King himself, as the gate to the real world is revealed. Infuriated, the Demon King rages on how Meliodas defied his father, but Meliodas coldly told the King he is no longer his father but is not able to understand why he keeps referring to Meliodas's emotions as a failure. The two trade blows, with the Demon King parrying every blow with his massive sword with ease while telling his son it is because of Meliodas's emotions destroying his plans of passing on the mantle of the King of Demons onto his son, which Meliodas scoffs at, telling his father he is more of a destroyer than Meliodas ever was. Soon, the King gets the upper hand, forcing back Meliodas with a slash despite his attempts to parry before submitting him with another sword blow. He muses on how while Meliodas is the only worthy being of his throne, his emotions are unnecessary and prepares to kill him, but Wild decides to use Wild Full Throtle, ultimately leading to his death, as this technique is considered by him his "Trump card", consuming all his life force to increase his power. With this technique, he was able to hold off the Demon King, giving Ban and Meliodas a chance to escape.

Meliodas about to leave from the Purgatory

Meliodas about to leave the Purgatory

As they fall down the exit to the real world, Ban and Meliodas lament that in the end Wild and Hawk cannot meet. However, the Demon King manages to grab Meliodas from Purgatory to prevent him from escaping. Ban tells Meliodas to return to help him, but Meliodas assures him that he will escape by his own means and that he must get ahead to help everyone. Ban tells him that he trusts that he will follow him, while following the path to the real world. The Demon King's arm is severed, surprising the Demon King that his son has used his original magic with the power of harming him. The Demon King says that he cannot go back because he will ruin all his plans, contenting Meliodas when he first saw his face of anguish.

Back in the real world, during the battle against Zeldris and the Original Demon, Meliodas's cocoon finally absorbs the other five Commandments. Although Merlin managed to stop the time of the cocoon, her efforts are in vain as Meliodas, who has already completed the process of absorbing all the Commandments, becoming Demon King, broke free before the spell took place. As his powers completely engulf the surroundings in darkness, leaving everyone shocked by his overwhelming strength, Elizabeth shakily asks Meliodas if it is him. Meliodas, now looking like an adult, smiles. However, Meliodas is revealed to have been turned into his father's vessel, revealing that it was the Demon King's plan from the beggining in creating the Commandments and make Meliodas absorb them to take his young and stronger body for himself.

However, when Ban appears to face the Demon King, Meliodas also resurges inside his body, where he starts a fight with his father. As the Demon King says that bringing death and fear is his duty and his own existence, Meliodas knocks him down with a nudge affirming that it is also his sin.

Demon King fighting Meliodas and Ban

The Demon King fighting Meliodas and Ban

After regretting not destroying them in Purgatory, the Demon King continues his fight against Meliodas and Ban. In both scenarios, their attacks are completely bypassed. Ban responds with a strong kick to the head, while Meliodas confronts him with a sword of darkness. The Demon King is surprised that Meliodas repels his attacks, to which Meliodas tells him to leave at once because his true body in Purgatory feels lonely. The Demon King reminds him that now that his body awoken the power of the Demon King, he could no longer be in that world for more than a day, but Meliodas affirms that it is okay as long as he can break the curse of Elizabeth and say goodbye to the Seven Deadly Sins.

Elizabeth and the Sins meeting Meliodas in his spiritual world

Elizabeth and the Sins meet Meliodas in his spiritual world

In the living world, Ban manages to strike hard at the Demon King, while in the spiritual world, Meliodas cuts off his chest and one of his horns. There, the Demon King tells Meliodas that there is no need to go and look for Elizabeth, because she is already dead and that he could never have her in his arms again. Meliodas calls him a liar, but even so Meliodas succumbs to the sadness of this possibility and there the Demon King sees the opportunity to attack him. This gives the Demon King the opportunity in the living world to regain strength after having been stamped against the ground by Ban, holding him by the neck with his claws and piercing the abdomen with his fingers. The Sins try to talk to Meliodas to help Ban, but the Demon King tells them that their voices never reach him in the spiritual world.

Meliodas using Trillion Dark

Meliodas defeats the Demon King

There, the Demon King tells a badly beaten Meliodas that embracing the despair in that spiritual world is accepting death. The Demon King tells him to sleep and leave everything to his father because there is no one out there waiting for him. However, Meliodas is backed by Elizabeth and the Sins, who entered the spiritual world thanks to Gowther's magic.

As Meliodas cannot believe that they are there, Merlin assures him that he is not dreaming, they are there in flesh and bones, or actually in spiritual bodies. Elizabeth tells Meliodas not to surrender and that they will be his strength. When meeting, Elizabeth can finally tell Meliodas that she loves him, and Meliodas asks her if he looks older after having spent a millennium in the Purgatory. The Demon King is infuriated by their presence and attacks with intention of eliminating them. However, Meliodas is able to repel his attack and knock him down with several holes in the chest. As the Demon King ask how is he able to have that power, Meliodas states that he has lost any chance of defeating him since his friends's existence and emotions have given him strength.

Meliodas and Ban after defeating the Demon King

Meliodas and Ban after defeating the Demon King

Meliodas proceeds to attack his father with many small spheres of concentrated darkness, penetrating the armor and wounding him. As Meliodas gains new strength from his friends and become able to overpower the Demon King, he ask them to go back and help Ban. The Demon King tries to respond, but Meliodas destroys his sword and continues his assault on him.

After receiving the kindness of Escanor, Diane, Gowther and King, the memory of the promise they once made from Merlin and the promise of Elizabeth to be waiting for him, Meliodas promises that he will come back so that everyone can drink together. The Demon King is riddled by Meliodas's Trillion Dark. At the doors of his demise, the Demon King begins to fly across the battlefield in a state of madness, in a desperate attempt to take Meliodas to the death with him.

Ban manages to intercept and stop his death throes, and then sent him flying with a kick. King, Elizabeth and Merlin then combine their techniques in their Combined Technique: Triple Prison leaving the Demon King trapped. This however manages to break him free in a berserk state. There, Diane surprises him with Diamond Tower, giving Ban the clean guy to give the Demon King the final blow. With a strong fist that sends the Demon King to break the diamond, this is finally defeated and erased from the body of Meliodas. With the real Meliodas back again on his body, Ban says that he is beaten to hell and back.

Meliodas destroying both curses

Meliodas destroys the curses

Elizabeth goes with the rest of the Sins and heal Meliodas and Ban's bodies.

Despite their victory, the Sins are saddened that with the destruction of the Demon King, they have missed the opportunity to break Elizabeth's curse. She tells them that this is already done, that what she most wanted was for Meliodas to be the same since she would never see him again if he became the Demon King. Elizabeth says she can always reincarnate if she dies, but Merlin asks if she really is okay with that.

There, Meliodas surprises everyone by claiming that he acquired the power to break the curse while escaping from the Purgatory. Despite the dissonance of this and Ban over the true meaning of him acquiring such power, Merlin uses her Curse Discovery for the curses of Meliodas and Elizabeth to take physical form. There, Meliodas assumes the appearance he had when he was Demon King and tells Elizabeth that despite having made her wait 3,000 years will fulfill the promise he made her. Elizabeth asks if he will continue to love her forever after completing her, to which Meliodas assures that he will do it until she gets tired of him first.

Meliodas easily destroys the two curses and with that Elizabeth embraces him with joy since his long journey has ended, but then it is rectified that their trip together has only begun.

Meliodas and Ban sings Wild's song to Hawk

Meliodas and Ban sing Wild's song to Hawk

With the defeat of the Demon King and the curses destroyed, the Holy War ends finally and the Sins return to Liones. Ban and Meliodas find Hawk in an alley eating garbage, asking what he does in a place like this. Hawk tries to convince them that he is another pig, but Meliodas says that there cannot be anymore talking pigs. When he tells her that Elizabeth is worried about the way he is acting, Hawk admits that he feels pathetic for not having been of any help during the Holy War and having had to be saved by Ban and Elizabeth. Ban hits Meliodas when he says that this is not different from how it has always been. Hawk recognizes that somewhere he had already realized how weak he really was and that he did not deserve to be with heroes like them.

Ban ask Meliodas when he leaves

Ban asks Meliodas when he leaves

Ban and Meliodas comfort him by saying that despite knowing he is weak, he always puts his life in danger without hesitation to protect his friends, which is a test of true brave. An moved Hawk tries to hug them, but they avoid him because he is covered in garbage, snot and tears. Even so, the two pretend to give him something that will make him happy and they sing the song that Wild taught him in the Purgatory. Hawk does not understand the meaning of that silly song, but still does not know why he can not stop crying when he hears it.

The three of them then attend the party at the new Boar Hat, despite Ban complaining that if someone will go to an inn in the night after the end of the Holy War. The Boar Hat winds up full and Meliodas is seen having a moment with Gilthunder who is happy of seeing him alive.

Ban encourages Meliodas to tell everyone the truth

Ban encourages Meliodas to tell everyone the truth

Taking a break, Meliodas mentions that this is the first starry night they have see in a thousand years. Ban mentions that his reserves of drinks will be exhausted and Meliodas says that they should be replenished for the next time. Ban then asks when it will be, leading Meliodas to say that he already noticed. Ban reveals that Meliodas cannot stay for long and asks him to know when he left.

The day after the end of the Holy War, Meliodas join the Sins in the Boar Hat to their journey to stocking up across Britannia.

As they set up a picnic, the women waits while the men go to find food in the forest. Meliodas then accompanies his companions to urinate together. When Meliodas says they must return, everyone worries about Meliodas is keeping a secret. Ban tells Meliodas that they are not as fragile as he believes, prompting him to reveal the truth that he will soon disappear from this world, something that everyone but Hawk was already beginning to suspect.

Hawk asks where he plans to go, to what Meliodas says he will go to the Demon Realm where he was born to be the first to establish a tavern there. Hawk reproaches him for leaving Elizabeth and that if he has even told him, but Meliodas says that thinking about the sad face he would not be able to see. Hawk calls him an idiot.

Gelda is released from her seal

Meliodas and Elizabeth release Gelda from her seal

While their trip resumes, Elizabeth worries that everyone is quiet and depressed. Meliodas insinuates her saying that they are just tired because they have not gone out to restock in a long time. Elizabeth sets him aside claiming that the conversations they had took away the urge to speak.

Gowther and Merlin realize that they are not heading to Liones, to which Meliodas reveals that he intends to make a stop earlier. In what remains of Edinburgh castle, Meliodas asks everyone to wait while he goes, but Elizabeth decides to accompany him. The two fly inside the huge crater created 12 years ago, where they find a large sphere of darkness, revealing itself to be where the vampire Gelda was sealed by Meliodas.

Elizabeth decides go to the Demon Realm with Meliodas

Elizabeth decides go to the Demon Realm with Meliodas

Meliodas releases Gelda from the seal to which she laments how she wished it were Zeldris who would be the one to do it. As she is about to fall into despair Meliodas interrupts her and quickly tells her how Zeldris really wanted to see her and that she was his only hope. She responds that, although they love each other, what he really wanted was to be the new Demon King.

Meliodas confirms this, explaining how Zeldris wanted to be the new Demon King to create a peaceful system so he and Gelda could be together without any repercussions from anyone. Gelda notes that Meliodas is referring to Zeldris in past tense and asks where Zeldris is. Meliodas answers that Zeldris went missing after the battle with the Demon King. After learning this, Gelda leaves to go find him herself stating that she does not care where he is in the world and asks if Elizabeth can understand where she is coming from. Elizabeth questions how she knows her and Gelda tells her there is no one that does not know her name in the magical realm.

The Sins having a final moment with Meliodas

The Sins having a final moment with Meliodas

Upon returning to Liones, Meliodas goes with his friends to a meeting organized by King Baltra. There, he asks Meliodas to marry Elizabeth and become the king, making Meliodas to spit his drink on his face. Baltra ensures that Elizabeth will have no objection, but she says she cannot accept. Everyone is stunned when Elizabeth reveals that she plans to go to Demon Realm with Meliodas. Meliodas is reluctant to this, claiming to regret it now that she is human. However, Elizabeth says she is determined to do it.

The Sins meet in the Boar Hat discussing what happened. Meliodas agrees with Merlin that Elizabeth was always that determined, even when she presented him with Stigma 3,000 years ago. Gowther asks him if he has no regrets in that world. Meliodas says he would have liked to see his son having a scruffle with Ban's, but he also has a mountain of regrets. Since even though the war was stopped for the time being, the hatred between the Demon Clan and the other races has not completely disappeared, not to mention those lost during the war, including Arthur whom Meliodas claims to have been a magnificent king. Meliodas laments for only having worried the last millennia to break the curses and have left his only little brother to die twice, stating that he deserves to be in hell for all this.

Meliodas reacts to Elizabeth's apparent death

Meliodas reacts to Elizabeth's apparent death

The Sins deny that by claiming that he is a good person and that he saved them all now and in the past. Meliodas thanks them affirming that he is who he is today thanks to the fact that the six of them were always there for him. There, Meliodas declares the Seven Deadly Sins officially disbanded. The next day, Elizabeth and Meliodas have an emotional farewell at the entrance to the Demon Realm. Meliodas reproaches Merlin for putting the entrance in such a remote place, to which Merlin tells him that she could not put it in the middle of the capital because of the risk of someone else falling into it. Meliodas offers Hawk to go with them, since he can survive in the Demon Realm. However, Hawk had decided to go to the Purgatory to see his birthplace and making a proper tomb for Wild. Meliodas promises Bartra to take care of Elizabeth and says farewell to everyone. However, before being able to cross the entrance, a gigantic rock is detached from a nearby boulder and falls over Elizabeth, seemingly crushing her to death. Everyone, especially Meliodas, cannot help but look with horror that the curse was not broken after all.

Meliodas prepares to destroy the curse again

Meliodas prepares to destroy the curse again

However, Elizabeth is saved in the last minute by Merlin who teleported she to safety just in time. Merlin then uses Curse Discovery to reveal that Elizabeth's curse was restored. Meliodas tries to destroy it once more, but as soon as he does, the curse regenerates again. Meliodas concludes that this is because as the curse was put by the Demon King, it continues to exist because the Demon King is still alive. Merlin and Gowther wonders how it can be given that the Commandments have no vessel, King and Diane wonders who could be able to wistand the Commandments when not even Mael was able to sustain four of them. Elizabeth and Meliodas conclude that Zeldris, the only one besides Meliodas capable of resisting the Commandments, has become the vessel of the Demon King.

Elizabeth and the Sins return to Boar Hat to discuss the situation of the Demon King still alive. When Merlin asks who can be the new vessel of the Demon King, Meliodas claims not to know. Meliodas then asks her if she closed the entrance to the Demon Realm to what Merlin assures that it will soon cease to exist and that anyway, with the entrance being just the size for a person to pass, not even the White Demons could cross it easily. There, everyone feels that the entrance to the Demon Realm is being opened again to which Merlin recognizes is to invoke an fearsome Indura demon. King asks Hawk and Escanor report the situation to the king and the Great Holy Knight and Ban states that he and the other Sins will face the Indura while Meliodas protect Elizabeth since he is the only with the power to do it. Ban assures to take down the Demon King at same time.

Meliodas and Elizabeth goes to rescue Zeldris

Once alone, Elizabeth asks him why he did not tell them about Zeldris being the Demon King's vessel. Meliodas says it's a family matter to defeat him and he does not want to involve them. Meliodas is conflicted that he cannot leave her alone, to which Elizabeth tells him to go and gives him his Lostvayne that she was saving all that time. As Meliodas reaffirms that he cannot leave her, Elizabeth declares that she will go with him since everything that concerns him concerns her. When the two leave, Meliodas remembers how Elizabeth was always at his side, giving him courage and being his light, everything that made him fall in love with her. The two then fly on the way to rescue Zeldris.

On the way Elizabeth asks Meliodas if they are going to where the Demon King awaits them, to which Meliodas says they go to Lake Salisbury, the greatest concentration of magic in Britannia, where the Demon King must be recovering the power he lost in your battle against the Sins and get the full assimilation of his vessel. Elizabeth assures him that Zeldris is waiting for him and that they can save him.

Meliodas and Elizabeth confronting the Demon King

Meliodas and Elizabeth facing the Demon King

Meliodas remembers the occasion when he argued with Zeldris 3,000 years ago about his desertion of the Demon Clan. Recalling how he offered to flee with him along with Gelda but Zeldris rejected him and made him his enemy. Meliodas says that he did not think things through at the time, not considering Zeldris' loyalty and his situation with a vampire like Gelda and that his departure only caused him more pressure as the acting commander, as the lover of Gelda and as the son of the Demon King.

Upon reaching the lake, Meliodas and Elizabeth confront the Demon King. As a tremendous lightning storm strikes, the Demon King claims that the environment is enraged because it does not need the existence of two Demon Kings. Meliodas replies that there should not even be one. Meliodas says that everything they have attacked is due to a useless quarrel between him and the Supreme Deity that continues even 3,000 years later. Meliodas asks if he knows how much blood and tears were spilled or how many lives were lost, the Demon King responds that it is the same as thinking about the swirls and grains of sand on the side of the road. Meliodas states that during his time at his service, he never felt anything during each fight after another, but that Elizabeth and all the friends he made put his world upside down and took him to where he is. Warning him to prepare, Meliodas claims to throw all his feelings in his face. So he launches and exchanges a blow with the Demon King. He mocks that if it is all the power that those feelings have, but the Meliodas immediately hits him a second blow to the face.

After retiring to the sky, the Demon King exclaims that he never expected Meliodas to become so much of a failure. He asks him if he really intends to eliminate his brother, who in fact if he cares about his father and then erase his own existence. Meliodas denies it by claiming that he will be the only one to disappear and that Zeldris will indeed save him. The Demon King asks what would happen then to what Meliodas claims to kill him right there.

Annoyed, the Demon King launches a blast of darkness that does not hit Meliodas, but raises a cloud of steam from the water that gives him the cover to catch Elizabeth and take her hostage. The Demon King boasts of his error in bringing her and that given his desire to protect her at all costs reactivated the curse, he only has to use it as a shield until he regains the power of his original being. However, Elizabeth laughs that he is wrong if he thinks that it was only to delay Meliodas, but that she did it to defeat him.

Elizabeth then wraps him in her Ark. The Demon King claims that this pathetic technique will not affect him, but Elizabeth uses Manipulate and Burst and shakes him all over the place and finally uses a big explosion that leaves him wounded. Meliodas warns him that he will know a world of pain if he underestimates Elizabeth just like he did long ago, reminding him of the name they used to give him in the underworld: Blood-stained Ellie.

As Meliodas jumps towards him, the Demon King engages in a sword fight with him, receiving a heavy blow. The Demon King tries to respond, but Meliodas eludes him and sends him flying with a impact from Lostvayne.

The Demon King then uses his magic to create the Hell Gate Blade, but Meliodas uses Lostvayne's Jitsuzō Bunshin and reflects his attack with Full Counter. Elizabeth then joins Meliodas to obliterate the Demon King with their Combined Technique: Kamigui.

As the Demon King curses him, Meliodas comments that he cannot invoke The Ruler or maybe the vessel is not compatible enough to use it. Meliodas says he has no chance to defeat them, so if he does not want to be crushed, he must leave Zeldris and return to Purgatory. The Demon King says that he can feel in the vibrations of the air and the ripples of the water that Meliodas is desperate.

When he tries to get up, Meliodas intercepts him with a nudge. The Demon King throws his darkness, but Meliodas eludes him and gives him an uppercut. At same time, Meliodas begs his brother to listen and fight to recover his body. After his next series of blows, the Demon King stops the last one with his arm saying that he feels flimsy. Meliodas throws him sword slashes that the Demon King dodges by calling them sluggish. The Demon King asks him if he is actually trying to save his brother to what Meliodas kicks him down.

Knocked down with a wound on his forehead, the Demon King confirms his earlier claim by noting that Meliodas is not only not using the power he gained that rivals his own, but that he is not even using his demonic power; so the Demon King calls him a fool.

The Demon King begin to gain the upper hand

The Demon King begins to gain the upper hand

While walking towards his father, Meliodas remembers how in the past Zeldris used to try to talk to him but his cold attitude always made him unable to continue. Meliodas thinks that at that time he only thought of obeying his father's orders and never stopped to listen to him, but he affirms that this is not an excuse and that Zeldris must have many more uncountable reasons to be dissatisfied with him. Meliodas asks that he vent all his frustrations to be able to have a heart-to-heart as brothers.

As the darkness comes out his body, the Demon King says that Meliodas is so concerned about his brother that he is not using his full power and in fact, his original power as Demon King is recovering and inceasing thanks to the magic lake. As the Demon King stands with a big and stronger body, he declares that the only possible conclusion is his victory. Meliodas throws himself crying out to Zeldris not to let him control him, but the Demon King resists his blow without any problem claiming that Zeldris' consciousness is lost in the illusion of his greatest desire and will soon disappear. The Demon King assails Meliodas with several punches ordering him to disappear as well, but Meliodas activates his demon mark and wounds him with a blow and several cuts of his sword. Meliodas refuses to lose Zeldris and claims to call him as many times as necessary to answer.

Meliodes swallows the Demon King in a swirl of Hellblaze, but the Demon King can only rejoice that his power grows more and more. Meliodas exclaims to Zeldris to fight back, but despairs to feel that his presence fades away.

The Demon King emerges from the flames with a new even more powerful body. He exclaims that feels so relieved and thanks Zeldris for his sacrifice that granted him his original power back along with the body and power from his youth. Meliodas still calls for Zeldris, but the Demon King says that the brother he is trying to save is already gone. Meliodas refuses to accept it and claims the he will save him, but the Demon King denies that he cannot do that on his own. During a sword clash, the Demon King asks if he expecting help from the Seven Deadly Sins. After a big slash that cut open the lake, Meliodas says that would be asking too much. Meliodas returns with a slash and kick on his own affirming that he already owes them too much and can't allow them to put anything on the line for him. The Demon King asks if he really can defeat him on his own before giving another slash. Meliodas says that he promised Zeldris make him see Gelda again no matter what, but the Demon King starts to overpower him. Elizabeth says that he must retreat for now and return with a plan, but Meliodas refuses to abandon Zeldris for a third time and says that no one will save him if he does not.

Meliodas then uses Kami Chigiri, but the Demon King absorbs all the flames using The Ruler. He says that not expect nothing less from the body that he chose as vessel and how it is a great opportunity to test his power.

Suddenly, the Demon King notices that something is approaching at high speed. This is the result of the heads of the Indura that Ban, King, Diane, Gowther and Merlin have launched towards him. Meliodas wonders why are they here, to which Elizabeth says that they come for him. With the arrival of the five Sins, Ban reminds Meliodas the seventh rule of the Seven Deadly Sins: come together and work as a team every now and then.

Ban is surprised when he is able to stand in the middle of the lake, while asking Meliodas about his serious face when he came to save him. Meliodas angrily says that it is not their fight and order them to return, but all the Sins express their desire of help. Ban asks if he fought all his way from the Purgatory just to die with Elizabeth, to which Ban immediately denies saying he did it so he could live on next to her.

Meliodas finally thanks the Sins and tells them that he is indebted to them.

Diane questions that claim, but Escanor only tells Meliodas to save his brother while he manages the situation, since he will not be able to continue in that world if he accidentally kills the Demon King. Escanor then begins to cough and languish, just when a Demon King furious at his words attacks him. However, Ban interferes, sending him flying with a kick and then King rains his True Increase. So, Zeldris is the only one who can fight his father and as before, they can only help him with their voices and minds.

There, the true Gelda appears in the spiritual world, determined to find the true Zeldris.

Despite all Zeldrises affirm to be the real one, Gelda recognizes the true Zeldris in an instant. Zeldris asks incredulously if she is real, to which Gelda reacts angrily that he is not able to distinguish her from a false one. A frightened Zeldris is excused that he meant that he could not believe she was there, confirming in turn by her attitude that she is real, which pleases Gelda. Meliodas then pretends to throw all his power to the Commandments to completely destroy them along the Demon King. Zeldris stops him, stating that with that kind of power Meliodas could replace the Demon King. Meliodas agrees that he could rule the Demon Realm with fear like his father did, but that it is not his wish none Zeldris's as his wish was to create a pacific world to live with Gelda. Zeldris realizes that power is not what they want and lets Meliodas destroy the Commandments.

Merlin uses the "key" to unlock the door.

She declares the human chosen by the priestess of Chaos will become the ruler of Chaos.

Meliodas asks Merlin to tell him what she did to Arthur, to which she replies that as she already told him, her goal was to awake Arthur, but as the "King of Chaos".

Merlin tells Arthur not to reject the immeasurable magic that was granted to him, but to embrace it. Arthur tells her that he doesn't understand, that his body hurts and asks for help. As his eyes turn black, Arthur starts screaming desperately in pain, to which Meliodas flies to help him. After meeting with Meliodas and the Sins, Arthur apologizes for his mistake, to which Meliodas says he should apologize. Arthur assures him that he did nothing and is glad to see him again, to which Meliodas says he is also happy to see him.

Meliodas then asks Merlin what she did to Arthur and what he means by "chaos". Merlin explains that chaos is a pure and at the same time impure power of darkness feared even by demons and light worshiped even by goddesses; an immense power that is believed that a single intention brought about the world and all races from nothingness, including the Demon King and the Supreme Deity. Merlin declares that Arthur commands chaos and that he is the king who will lead Britannia into a new world. Arthur is very confused by what Merlin says.

Meliodas asks why she awaken a power that is both a blessing and a curse, and demands to know what her desire is. The voice from the lake asks to be allowed to explain instead of Merlin, about the desire made by a single lonely witch who wandered the land in search of chaos.

Meliodas asks the voice to tell him who it is and to show itself. The being, revealing herself as the Lady of the Lake and the Priest of Chaos, apologizes for not being able to leave the lake. Meliodas says that in 3,000 years he have never heard of any being from Chaos except from Merlin a few moments ago. The Lady of the Lake reveals that this is because Merlin hid that truth from everyone.

Meliodas asks her what she is talking about, which leads the Lady of the Lake to narrate Merlin's past and her love for Meliodas who was never reciprocal. The Lady of the Lake finally explains that Merlin dedicated her life to resuscitating a being known as Chaos, the one who created the world and the five races, and for that she used the Seven Deadly Sins to destroy the Demon King. The Lady of the Lake also reveals that Merlin was the one who asked the giant Dabuzu to create the Coffin of Eternal Darkness to seal the Demon King and the Supreme Deity. And recently, it was also Merlin who deliberately delayed her Chrono Coffin for the Demon King to possess Meliodas, that she was the one who reactivated Elizabeth's curse after Meliodas destroyed it and finally made Meliodas launch their combined attack on the lake; All in order to achieve her goal.

Arthur's magic activating again

Meliodas and the rest trapped again in Arthur's power

Meliodas tells Merlin to look him in the eye and asks if she really tries to kill Elizabeth. Merlin replies that since Meliodas's only objective was to break Elizabeth's curse, he could have abandoned the mission of destroying the Demon King after he had accomplished it, something she could not allow. Meliodas exclaims furiously that if she reactivated the curse for that reason, to which Merlin replies that she also saved Elizabeth. Meliodas then asks if forming the Seven Deadly Sins was also only in search of her goal, to which Merlin does not respond. The Lady of the Lake mentions that hating someone until she wants to kill him but at the same time being able to love him is what human beings do, so she wonders if since they and Merlin are of different races, they will ever really be able to understand each other.

When Meliodas reproaches Merlin for using the Seven Deadly Sins to revive a being that may never exist, the Lady of the Lake states that Chaos exists and that they have already been face to face with it for a long time. When no one seems to understand, the Lady of the Lake reveals that they have been traveling on it and that all that time has been waiting for her resurrection; leaving everyone shocked to see that she refers to Hawk Mama. The Lady of the Lake says that Chaos is a will, so it does not manifest itself in physical form and that what the two gods believed to seal was not really Chaos. There, Hawk Mama is revealed to be a moss shell whose content, Chaos, is now inside Arthur.

Meliodas saves Arthur from Cath

Meliodas saves Arthur from Cath

Understanding that the strange magic that Arthur unconsciously used was Chaos, Meliodas asks Merlin to return Arthur to normal, to which Merlin replies that it is impossible given that Chaos has chosen to coexist within Arthur which proves that he is the true King of Chaos. Meliodas asks her what about Arthur's will to which Merlin says he can blame her for everything he wants.

Arthur then asks them to stop arguing. As Arthur begins to talk about his feelings for the Sins and Merlin, his magic begins to alter reality again.

Cath then leaves the Boar Hat happy to see Arthur. However, the Lady of the Lake is alarmed by its presence and tells Merlin not to let it approach Arthur. As Cath ends up wanting to devour Arthur and he is saved by Meliodas, Cath tear Arthur's arm and devour it, adquiring a monstruos transformation. Meliodas tells everyone to get a hold of Cath, and the Lady of the Lake tells them that they must retrieve their arm or they will soon know how powerful even a fragment of Chaos is.

Meliodas and the Sins trying to break through Cath's dimension

While Elizabeth heals Arthur, the Lady of the Lake reveals the true identity of the monster Cath Palug, who was after the power of Chaos witin Arthur. Meliodas warns Ban to be careful sinsce they dont known the true power of Cath Palug. The monster then asks an affected Arthur if he can eat him now, creating a pocket dimension with the fragment of Chaos he had devoured, sucking Arthur, Elizabeth and the Sins in it.

After Arthur destroys the dimension and Cath Palug with a new Excalibur, he faints from tiredness in Merlin's arms. Elizabeth tells Merlin that they should take him to the kingdom, but Merlin just thanks her for healing him and before Elizabeth can reply, she teleports them all away claiming she can't keep up with them.

The Sins and Elizabeth thinking about Merlin

The Sins and Elizabeth thinking about Merlin

As everyone is returned to Liones, Elizabeth asks Meliodas what they should do about Merlin. Meliodas says that Merlin must be smiling while they talk.

While everyone laments later, Meliodas says he was not trying to be critical or sarcastic about Merlin, he just noted what his personality is, but then he realizes that he never really knew anything about her. While others express their concerns, Meliodas says they can't leave Merlin and Arthur alone. Although King believes that they will be fine, Meliodas declares that Chaos has not gone yet and that after witnessing the power that Arthur has, if he is not able to control it and yields to his own darkness, he will end up turning Britannia into a living hell and becoming a new threat.

Meliodas saving Merlin

Diane asks why Merlin hid the truth about Chaos from what Melidoas says they should ask her in person. There, Gowther intervenes contemplating if they really don't know the answer to that question.

As Gowther expresses his opinion about Merlin's deep desire as well as theirs, and the Sins discuss whether being of different races can understood each other, Meliodas says that regardless of anything, they cannot leave Chaos unseen and they must do Merlin takes responsibility for what she did. When Gowther asks him what he plans to do to Merlin, everyone feels great magic in the direction that Arthur and Merlin are.

When Cath, who was fighting Merlin, releases a large bunch of beams from his mouth over her, they are all reflected by Meliodas' Full Counter. Surprised, Merlin is healed by Elizabeth, asking both of them why they are there. Elizabeth tells her that it's not just them, revealing that all the other Sins also went.

Meliodas and the Sins decides to protect Merlin and Arthur

Merlin rushes to help Arthur confirming that he is only unconscious. Meliodas then tells Merlin that they will make her take responsibility for resuscitating Chaos, so she must devote the rest of her life to protecting and guiding Arthur. Merlin says he didn't have to go there to tell her that, since that was already her plan. Meliodas adds that they also have responsibility for forgiving her foolishness, so he asks her to allow them to protect her. Merlin thanks you by saying that she is indebted to everyone.

Cath Palug starts to regenerate stating that he is sick and tired of everyone always getting in his way. He then ask Arthur if he is really that shocked about losing his country and people, since all countries eventually fall, even if the Demon King and Sins had not done so, he himself, someone else, a meteor or perhaps the ocean would have destroyed it. Arthur asks what he wants to reach, to which Cath Palug tells him that everything is the same. Arthur asks what he means and Cath Palug says he is warning him to give up fighting the inevitable given that regardless of the route taken, everyone eventually dies. Arthur asks if he should then just let him devour him and be fine with that, to which Cath Palug responds in the affirmative.

Meliodas inside Cath Palug's vision

Ban and Meliodas interrupt pretending to start the fight by saying they have talked enough. Complaining about the boring, Cath Palug starts fighting but is suddenly frozen in time by Merlin's Chrono Coffin. Merlin says that Chaos' power will allow him to free himself in perhaps a dozen years or centuries. Meliodas says they will deal with it at the time and then everyone says goodbye to go their separate ways. Meliodas and Elizabeth marry while they lament that no one else went to the ceremony since King and Diane are marrying at Fairy Realm, Ban and Elaine busy together, Gowther and Hawk living their lives and Merlin and Arthur rebuilding Camelot. Then suddenly Meliodas is seen as king of Liones next to an old Elizabeth dying in a bed, lamenting that Ban died and they can't see King and Diane. Elizabeth says it will be the last time they are together since she no longer reincarnates and that they have been about 3,000 years of happiness. A knight suddenly bursts in warning Meliodas that Cath Palug invades the kingdom. Cath Palug then fights with Meliodas mocking that he is alone because in that chaotic world there are no constants and everyone finally leaves as if they had never been. However, the voices of his loved ones tell Meliodas that he will never be alone because their bonds will never break. This awakens Meliodas from the illusion, surprising Cath Palug.

As Meliodas wakes up with everyone else in trance, Arthur explains that he was in a vision of an uncertain future. Melidoas asks if he is okay, and Arthur tells him they should look for a way to beat Cath. Cath Palug says it's useless since they can't kill him. He declares that he will devour Arthur to unify with Chaos and devour everything. However, when Cath Palug throws himself at them, Arthur says he discovered how to beat him.

Cath mocks his claim by asking if he plans to burn him, melt him, crush him, hit him in pieces or all of the above. He says he will devour him before he has the chance, invoking Chaos' power to open the dimension in his mouth. Arthur says that the only one to be devoured is Cath, and then invokes Chaos to create the same type of dimension with a mouth that begins to absorb Cath. Arthur says that if he can't defeat him then he will absorb it and at the same time recover the Chaos that he stole from him.

Meliodas encourages Arthur to create an everlasting kingdom

Meliodas encourages Arthur to create an everlasting kingdom

Remembering Meliodas' words that what matters is what one thinks of others and not vice versa, Arthur says he does not want others to recognize him as a good king, but to everyone to live happily. He says he doesn't care who laughs behind him, that he will create an everlasting kingdom where no one suffers or fears anything. Cath calls him stupid, saying that nothing is everlasting and that such a kingdom is a contradiction, it is Chaos. Meliodas is surprised that Cath himself admitted that. Cath Palug is then completely absorbed.

As everyone returns to reality, Diane asks where Cath went, to which Arthur says that he is inside him but he certainly does not know where. Ban asks if he regained the power that Cath stole, to which Arthur says he is not sure, but Merlin says that Chaos' power is back in full and that what he has in his hand is the proof, surprising Arthur by seeing a new form of Excalibur. Meliodas admires the power of the sword, saying that it is perfect for those who create an everlasting kingdom. Arthur is ashamed to say that it was quite silly, but Meliodas encourages him that a man cannot retract after saying a promise out loud and that the objective he set is very wild and worthy of being accomplished. Meliodas tells him that he will see him create that world he has in mind and even if he takes the wrong path, the Seven Deadly Sins will be with him. Arthur thanks them by saying that they are their everlasting goal.

Epilogue arc

Meliodas decides the name of his son

Meliodas decides the name of his son

After defeating Cath Palug and Merlin goes with Arthur to rebuild Camelot as an "everlasting kingdom", the Sins reunite in the streets of Liones as they decide to part in their own ways. After everyone leaves promising always be friends, Elizabeth realizes that she's back to the beginning of her journey, alone with Meliodas and Hawk. She says that even though it's only been a year, she feels like she's been with the Sins all her life to what Meliodas says is because too much has happened. Meliodas asks Hawk if he will dig for leftovers, to which Hawk is annoyed stating that as he had already said, he will go to the Purgatory to make a grave for his brother. Elizabeth says that he is a kind soul and there Hawk says goodbye to the two promising that it is not a goodbye forever.

When Meliodas and Elizabeth return to the castle, Bartra is pleased that Meliodas has decided to agree to marry Elizabeth and succeed him as king. However, he is very upset when Meliodas does not pay attention to the responsibilities that he will have as king and that the only thing that worries him is going on a honeymoon trip with Elizabeth. However, Bartra agrees to continue taking charge until they both return from their trip. Bartra apologizes for putting pressure on them but says he is eager to see the faces of his grandchildren.

18 months later, Elizabeth and Meliodas have become the rulers of the kingdom, as Elizabeth awaits the birth of their first child. She comments with Meliodas the reactions of Zeldris and Gelda when they found out since they had never before the conception of a demon and a goddess, although she is technically half human. While Meliodas does not stop thinking about how to name the baby, he decides to call him Tristan what Elizabeth says is a great future waiting for him.

As Meliodas looks out the window, he wonders what kind of future will come.

Ten years later, Meliodas' son Tristan is seen running through the streets as he overhears the stories of how his father and colleagues were framed for attempting to overthrow the kingdom and is found by Meliodas, who gathered Diane, Ban, King, and Gowther together. Seeing his son's belief that he and the others are criminals, he humors him by pretending to be the "evil sinner" he is told to be, shocking his son despite Diane's disapproval and Ban's humor.

However, Tristan rushes his father with mutliple attacks that are easily parred by Meliodas and is surprised to hear Tristan's desire of becoming a Holy Knight due to his sense of justice but quickly brings him outside along with Elizabeth and the others as the entire kingdom gathers to wish Tristan a happy tenth birthday. Despite seeing the admiration of the citizens, Tristan still sees his father as a short, irresponsible drinker as well as claiming he gropes Elizabeth's boobs every day to his mother's embarrassment but when Meliodas asks him what he wants for a present, Tristan claims he wants a legendary sword but is quickly shot down.

Gowther decides to give him a special present and uses his magic to show Tristan the entire story of the "Seven Deadly Sins" making him shed a tear. The next day, Meliodas is seen sparring with his son who blames him for not telling him the truth. When Elizabeth calls them over, Meliodas wonders what his son will be like when he grows up and Tristan claims that nobody can tell the future, but he says the he sees it a different way: the future is infinitely expanding like the sky, that nothing is set in stone. He claims it's fine whatever Tristan wants to be, whether a knight or king, but Tristan claims he already knows what he wants to be as the two walk forward.

One of the "Seven Deadly Sins"...

The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light

Six months after the end of the war, Meliodas and Elizabeth are on their journey through Britannia enjoying peace and memories. On the banks of a river, they meet Zeldris and Gelda who are in a similar situation before leaving for the Demon Realm. Zeldris continues to show a bad attitude towards Meliodas despite everything that has happened, which discourages him. When they found a wounded demon saying that the Demon Realm was invaded, the four decides go to see what happens, with Meliodas convincing Zeldris by winning a game of rock, paper, scissors.

Arriving at the Demon Realm completely free of their miasma, they are all confronted by the invaders who are revealed to be Dahlia and Dubs. The two are confronted by Meliodas and Zeldris, with Meliodas being Dubs' opponent. With Dubs being the creator of Meliodas' Lostvayne, he easily turned his own creation against its wielder, and captured both Meliodas and Elizabeth in his Staff of Imprisonment.

Unable to break free, Meliodas and Elizabeth have a moment alone discussing about Dahlia and Dubs, who are nothing like they remember them in attitude and power. Meliodas doubts that Zeldris wants to go save her traitorous brother, but Elizabeth assures him that the two can be reunited as siblings. Zeldris and Gelda finally free them, interrupting a kiss the two shared.

Upon joining the demons that were fighting Dahlia and Dubs, he demon brothers began their rematch with the Demon Realm takers, but Meliodas and Zeldris quickly switched opponent and Dahlia is quickly struck by Meliodas instead. In a power fight against Meliodas, Dahlia was easily overpowered and knocked out unconscious. The effect of Breath of Bless dissapear from them, lending them to known that they have been controled by someone else.

Meliodas arrives to Liones where the Supreme Deity was fighting the other Sins and uses Full Counter to return her attack. After showing her fury at Meliodas for seducing Elizabeth and ruining the Holy War, the Supreme Deity is held back by Zeldris, allowing Meliodas to attack her, leading her to claim that he wants to kill her lover's mother just as he killed his own father. Elizabeth then confronts her by demanding that she leave her and declaring that there was never love between the two, warning her to confront her if she continues to hurt those she loves. The Supreme Deity claims that neither understands that the eternal conflict to which the Demon and Goddess Clan were bound by the Holy War was necessary to maintain balance in the world. When Elizabeth asks why, Meliodas says that from the Demon King's memories he knows that both gods were created with the mission of continuing an eternal conflict and that for them the Holy War is nothing more than a game. The Supreme Deity says that an inferior being cannot have an opinion on the intentions of a god and that she must destroy them all for the Holy War to start again. During her final confrontation with Meliodas and Zeldris, she is finally overcome by their joint efforts. As she fades away, she berates them that by destroying the balance of the world they will create an era of chaos, but the brothers claim that no matter that kind of era comes, they will decide their future for themselves. Thus, the two use their Combined Technique: Tyrant Killing to destroy the Supreme Deity.

The next day, Meliodas and Elizabeth celebrate their wedding with everyone celebrating. Meliodas finally manages to make amends with Zeldris who leaves for the Demon Realm as the new regent.

Four Knights of the Apocalypse

Chaos in Liones arc

Meliodas, in expectation of his deliverances for the Boar Hat from Dreyfus and Hendrickson, is seen on the street of Liones when his packages are not being delivered on time. He spotted Percival carrying his packages and the Dragon Handle, and took him to the Boar Hat which is now permanently stationed in his own Kingdom. After receiving his packages and treated the courier a pie, which caused food poisoning to the boy, Meliodas introduced himself to the boy as the king of Liones.

Percival laughs that a young man his own age can be king, Meliodas claims to be much older than him although he evades the question of how old he is. Meliodas officially welcomes him to the kingdom and then Percival questions him about the Four Knights of the Apocalypse, Arthur and Varghese's death. Meliodas says that he will answer everything when they are reunited, but before he offers him a walk through Liones and allows him to call him Meliodas.

Meliodas shows him Hendrickson's free clinic, Zeal's forge, and the market. The two then take a ride on a transport loaded by a giant and buy some berries from a Benwick's fairy to go with the fish pie they were eating. Getting off a tower, Percival is surprised that the people of Liones live alongside fairies and giants. Meliodas explains that they became integrated after fighting together in the Holy War. Percival asks if there are demons too, to which Meliodas says that only a weirdo would want to live with demons, but Percival tells him about his good experience with the Dalflare Range's demons. Percival tells him in the language of the demons that a friend of his from the village loves the ale they make and to his surprise, Meliodas tells him in the same language that his ale has a lot to improve. Percival asks him how it is that he knows the language of the demons to which Meliodas questions the same.

At the top, Percival marvels at everything he has seen in Liones. There, Meliodas says that everything, the people, the land and the nations, will soon disappear and that he must help them. Meliodas tells him that the Four Knights are boys chosen to save the world, to which Percival denies having the power to do so and mentions that Lancelot told him that the Four Knights are disasters that will destroy the world, leading Meliodas to see that he is not said the key part. Meliodas promises to explain everything to him in detail once the four Knights are reunited, revealing that three of them, including him, are already in Liones. A soldier arrives on a Flying Manta to inform Meliodas that Tristan has returned from his mission with the missing Knight, and that there is a problem to take care of. Meliodas asks Percival to wait in the castle, only to see that Percival left on his own.

Meliodas returns to the castle where the guards apologize for letting the fourth Knight of the Apocalypse escape, though Meliodas doesn't want them looking for him as Lancelot can. Meliodas then goes to see Bartra, who was very weak in bed under Slader's care. He informs her that Bartra was visited by a prophetic dream, the first since the one that revealed the Four Knights of Apocalypse. Meliodas asks him to tell him the new prophecy, Bartra recounts that the Four Knights will gather at the castle blessed by the moon and distant thunder, but that hope will be lost by the hand of a chaos assassin and the sword of a traitor.

When some guards tell him that an enemy is attacking the city, Melidoas orders the Holy Knights to be sent to save the people. Meliodas recognizes Galand and Melascula's magic mixed with some chaotic power, understanding that Arthur revived them but wonders what their goal is since they aren't going after him. Questioning Gilthunder, he deduces that the attack is a distraction and that their true target is in the castle, assuming it is Bartra. Meliodas decides to go protect him, Gilthunder tells him that no one except the Seven Deadly Sins are capable of facing an enemy like the one in town, but Meliodas states that the Four Knights of the Apocalypse can.

Meliodas arrives to save Tristan from Arthur Pendragon, sending Arthur's magic blast back with Full Counter. Arthur tells Meliodas that he came to the conclusion that eliminating the other races is the only way for humans to reach true peace, reminding him that time in the past when he told him that a man can not just take back a vow. Meliodas recalls when he told him that even if he lost his way, the Seven Deadly Sins will be there for him and declares that he will bring Arthur back to his senses. Arthur laughs at his statement, stating that precisely because he is in his senses, he seeks to return the world to the hands of humanity because coexisting with the other races is an empty dream.

When Tristan says that they are wasting time and that he will take down Arthur himself, Meliodas orders him to stay out before jumping to Arthur and start a fierce sword struggle that causes such an impact that destroys a nearby mountain. Tristan suddenly try to interfere, telling his father to shut up when he asks him to retire. As Arthur says that he should not speak to his kind father like that, Meliodas saves him from being beheaded by Arthur and then attacks him with Trillion Dark to finally send him flying away with a kick.

Meliodas ask his son if he is hurt, leading Tristan to angrily reject his help and state that he can fight with his own power even when Meliodas tries to make him calm his mind. Arthur says that he do not understand a thing and that he is only dragging his father down since if not were for him, Meliodas would not have been hurt and Arthur would have been hurt far worse. Arthur also tells Meliodas that he should not be worried about his son in the middle of an national affair like that, but Meliodas says that if he do not worry about his son then he can not be considered a king. Arthur asks Meliodas what is needed to be the king of a country, affirming that it is resolve and action strong enough to cast their individuallity and feelings aside for your people's sake, even if it is your beloved son and wife.

As Tristan begins to completely lose control of his demon side, Meliodas runs to help, receiving an attack from behind from Arthur who tells him to die protecting his beloved son.

When Lancelot intervenes and stops Tristan with his Shining Road, Meliodas lets him take the fight against Arthur saying that he trusts him, showing amusement that Lancelot inherited the habit of provoking his enemies from his father. Meliodas intervenes when Arthur frees Chaos from his severed arm, saying that he should have removed Chaos from inside him long ago no matter what had happened.

Wolnack arc

The day after the battle, Meliodas calls Percival and his friends to an audience. He appears riding Elizabeth's breasts when she receives them, leaving everyone incredulous as he reveals that he is the king. Meliodas proceeds to congratulate and thank everyone for his efforts thus far, however, he painfully informs them that it is time to say goodbye. When they begin to say goodbye in tears believing that they will no longer be able to accompany Percival, Meliodas interrupts them saying that they misunderstood him. He then calls Anghalhad, Donny and Nasiens one by one to name them Holy Knights and ask them to continue supporting Percival.  They ask why he told them to say goodbye, to which Meliodas explains that he meant to say goodbye to their old lives until the war with Camelot was over. Meliodas apologizes to them for leaving the fate of the world in their hands, but he tells them that he is counting on them to help him protect Britannia. Despite happily accepting, everyone is furious at being tricked. When Anghalhad rejects the tittle believing herself unworthy of it, Meliodas says that he will not force her to accept it but Elizabeth manages to convince her by reminding her how she helped the citizens during the battle.

Meliodas then leads the new formed Percival Platoon to the war room where the other members of the Four Knights of Apocalyse and the Tristan Platoon were gathered. There Meliodas thanks the four for coming, calling them by their official titles. When Percival balks at his role of "destroying the world", Meliodas reveals that what they are going to destroy is the world created by Camelot and that his title as the Knight of Death is from the enemy's point of view. When Thetis shows everyone a vision of the destruction caused by Arthur, Meliodas says that this is the truth of Camelot and the reason they are fighting.

Meliodas explains to them that every time Arthur creates something in Camelot, something in this world is lost, which I hear from a credible source. When Tristan asks him who that source is, Meliodas reveals that it was Varghese, Percival's grandfather, who revealed it to him shortly after the end of the Holy War after fleeing Camelot with a baby Percival. Chion asks if he really believes the words of an enemy Holy Knight, but Meliodas states that he believes him, so he gave him the medallion and the mark on his helmet as a sign of friendship and trust. Meliodas says that he offered Varghese to take care of Percival for him, but Varghese decided that it was his responsibility and promised to raise him to be a healthy and good-natured child, stating that after meeting Percival, he knows he kept his promise.

When Percival says that they must go to Camelot immediately to stop Arthur, Meliodas and Thetis explain that after losing the prisoner of war who was killed by Jericho, they no longer have a way to get to Camelot, since only those with a mark on their bodies given by Arthur are able to open the entrance to his realm. When an elated Donny questions why he didn't go to Camelot himself when he could instead of waiting for Percival and the other four Knights, Meliodas reveals that he can't because he's a demon, leading Thetis to explain that Camelot is protected by a barrier that prevents the passage of any race except humans. Meliodas says that's why they entrust everything to the Four Knights, since they are human or half-human, which allows them to pass the barrier. When everyone is discouraged by not finding a solution by not being able to go to Camelot, Meliodas is happy when Percival suggests they all must go on an adventure together to find a way. Melidoas says that Percival is just as Gowther reported him, a boy who can bring hope to the world.

Already at night, Gawain appears to Meliodas on the roof of the castle, recriminating him for drinking when he is about to send his son on a life-threatening journey for the destiny of the world. Meliodas is happy to have the opportunity to talk to her and is surprised to see the design of her new clothes, to which Gawain responds furiously for this, wanting to get even with whoever made them. Meliodas says that the designer is gone, but that these clothes are magically processed to fit her size and resist her magic power, leading Gawain to appreciate their usefulness despite their lack of style. Gawain then says if he really expects her to fight Arthur as a Prophesied Knight when she is his niece and has no reason to become allies with Liones. Meliodas says that she still must have her reasons since she is there now, to which Gawain says that she will act as one of them for now but that does not guarantee that she will not end up betraying them.

Meliodas offers her to eat together which Gawain refuses as she is not even acquainted with him, though when Meliodas comments that he made a special pudding for her, Gawain immediately becomes aroused by it given her obsession with pudding. However, after trying Meliodas' pudding, Gawain ends up suffering from food poisoning for a whole day.

On the day that everyone will finally set off in search of a way to Camelot, Meliodas divides the Four Knights into search teams. Percival and Gawain's team to the Fairy King's forest, Tristan's team to the old Camelot and Lancelot is instructed to go to Benwick alone, which leads him to request that someone else go because he doesn't feel ready to return to his home yet. Meliodas tells her that he already fulfilled half of his promise to find and bring back Jericho and asks her to let his parents know that he is okay. Meliodas also promises to take charge of the search for Dubs, whom Lancelot was looking for to make him a weapon that can resist his magical power. Meliodas tells them that although they will find many dangers in their search, they will also find allies to ask for help. When everyone realizes that the Dragon Handle is a danger to Meliodas being a demon, they tell Percival to return it, but Meliodas agrees to let him have it since it is only fair to entrust his fate to those who give them such responsibility.

Meliodas and Elizabeth go to see Tristan off, where Meliodas has some awkward last words with him.  Meliodas then talks to Elizabeth about what a bad father he is for sending his son on such a dangerous journey and that Tristan must hate him, but Elizabeth claims that Tristan admires him more than anyone, to which Meliodas says that he has never heard of him.  Meliodas then reveals that Lancelot informed him of the disappearance of the princess of Cameliard, who possesses an Oracle-type power greater than Bartra's. Meliodas says that if that power is in the hands of Camelot, a big storm is coming.
