Hellblaze

Hellblaze「獄炎ヘルブレイズ, Herubureizu; lit. "Hellfire"」 is a demonic technique utilized by members of the Demon Clan. It makes use of the their signature Purgatory Fire「煉獄の炎, Rengoku no Honō」, an inextinguishable black flame.

Description[]

Hellblaze is a dark power connected to the darkness of the Demon Realm. It allows the user to generate and control black flames that cannot be extinguished. In addition to its immensely devastating power, the flames also nullify any regenerative abilities including that of an immortal.

In battle, Hellblaze can be imbued upon weapons to drastically increase their destructive potential, hurled as fireballs at an opponent or used in hand-to-hand combat.

Techniques[]

Meliodas[]

  • Enchantment: Hellblaze「付呪エンチャント・獄炎ヘルブレイズ, Enchanto: Herubureizu; lit. "Enchantment: Hellfire"」: Meliodas covers his sword with black flames to make it much sharper.
  • Kami Chigiri「神かみ千斬ちぎり; lit. "Divine Thousand Slashes"」: A powerful attack that requires Meliodas to heighten his power and senses to the utmost limit. Black flames engulf his sword as he leaps into the air. He then performs a powerful slash that hurls the flames in a single, ruinous attack.[8]

Combined Techniques[]

  • Combined Technique: Kamigui「合技 神かみ喰ぐい, Gōgi "Kamigui"; lit. "God Eater"」: After Elizabeth uses Enchantment: Ark in Lostvayne, Meliodas uses Kami Chigiri unleashing an Ark burst on the opponent.[9]
  • Combined Technique: Dark Execution「合技 闇の処刑ダークエクスキューション, Gōgi Dāku Ekusukyūshon」: A combo attack in which while Zeldris immobilizes the opponent with Ominous Bind, while Meliodas attacks them with his Kami Chigiri.[10]

Hendrickson[]

  • Hellblaze Wave「波状の獄炎ヘルブレイズ・ウェーブ, Herubureizu Wēbu; lit. "Wavy Hellfire"」: Hendrickson points his sword towards the opponent and engulfs them in a wild, black inferno.[11]

Mael/Estarossa[]

  • Evil Hound「邪悪な猟犬エビルハウンド, Ebiru Haundo」: Estarossa creates a large dog made of dark flames that incinerates anyone in its path. It can also create a giant barrier of flames to trap its targets in.[12]

Original Demon[]

  • Hellblaze Omega「獄炎極ヘルブレイズ・オメガ, Herubureizu Omega; lit. "Great Hellfire"」:The Original Demon fires an spider-like Hellblaze blast from his cane. [13]

Zeldris[]

  • Enchantment: Hellblaze「付呪エンチャント・獄炎ヘルブレイズ, Enchanto: Herubureizu; lit. "Enchantment: Hellfire"」: Zeldris covers his sword with black flames to make it much sharper.

Combined Techniques[]

  • Combined Technique: Haso Kyutotsu「合技 破は槍そう球きゅう突とつ, Gōgi Hasō Kyūtotsu; lit. "Sphere Destruction Spear Thrust"」: Zeldris uses his Hellblaze-infused sword to impale the opponent caught in Gelda's Kaijinso.[14]

Trivia[]

  • The only known person who was able to put out the flame was Merlin and later on Elizabeth Liones.
  • Hellblaze Wave was originally called Hellblaze Scream「獄炎の怒号ヘルブレイズスクリーム, Herubureizu Sukurīmu; lit. "Hellfire's Roar"」 in the magazine release.
  • Evil Hound was originally called Black Hound「黒の猟犬ブラックハウンド, Burakku Haundo」 in the magazine release.
  • Derieri has stated that Monspeet is the most skilled user of Hellblaze in all the Demon Realm.
